APR 5-6 The Sierra Chapter of the Over The Hill Gang held its filth annual National MX at the Oatfield MX facility .and attracted.over 130 "Gang" members from all over California. A perfectly groomed track made for some exciting action in the Novice class with the Bay Chapters, j.B. Bowens, taking the overall v\ctory for the twoday event. In Saturday's first moto, the Sierra Chapter's holeshot artist, Robert Woehrle, screamed through the first turn leaving no doubts about his intentions to win. However, Woehrle would soon find himself closely followed by Brad Huffer and Bowens. joe Tanner made an effort to make it a foucwcider freight train, but a trip to taste the loamy soil on the first lap spoiled ·that idea. Meanwhile, Woehrle, Huffer and Bowens slowly put major distance between themselves and the rest of the lS-rider field. Stan Slate and Mike Parrish tried to close the gap in the exhausting lS-minute moto with little success and by lap five, s~ed cruising for presumed fourth- and fifth-place finishes, respectively. However, as Woehrle crossed the finish line for the checkered flag, a subsequent rule violation bumped him down to 15th place and gave Huffer the official win followed by Bowens, Slate, Parrish and Tim Dwyer rounding out the top five. Moto two saw Bowens take the holeshot with Dwyer, Huffer, Bob Norris and Woehrle hot in pursuit. On the third lap, a bobble by Woehrle allowed Parrish to slip by but Woehrle would soon retaliate with' some smooth lines and eventually repass Parrish, as well as, Norris. Meanwhile, Bowens was on a tear up front and, with a shortened second half of motos, easily took the victorious checkered flag. Huffer, Dwyer, Woehrle and Parrish would follow to round out the top five. Results ornG BEG ~1: 1. Scott Riddle; 2. Steve Latham.; 3. Matt Lee; 4. Pal Saugar; S. Ronald Wuttke. ornc BEC 0-2: 1.
