Casey, Clark clash
at Woodland MX

Joe Casey and'Chris Clark continued their season-long clash in the 250cc Expert class during
the last round of Vintage Motocross at the
Woodland Motocross Park in Washington on
MarCh 8.
Both riding 1973 Honda CR250 Elsinores,
Casey and Clark spent all of both 250cc Sportsman Expert-class motos in a side-by-side configuration. Clark beat Casey and CZ-mounted
Chris Castles to the flItish line in the first moto,
but Casey came back charging' harder than ever
in the second round to net the moto and overall
win. Third overall behind Casey and Clark was
Casltes.
Kirk Williams, much like he's done all season long here, dominated both 250cc AlmostVintage Expert class motos, but fellow ex-70s
Pro Bob Rush has quickened his pace considerably each outing and keeps narrowing the gap
on Williams. While Williams did om away with
a moto-one win ahead of Rush and Jesse Buckley, Rush was out front in the second moto.
Rush's lead would only last a lap, though. That
was all it took for Williams, who suffered a miserable start, to work through the field and catch
Rush, which was good for a 1-1 win.
In the 250cc Almost Vintage Amateur class,
Steve Kauffman jumped out in front of the field
in moto one, but fellow Bultaco rider Monte
Bloemke took the lead a lap later and earned the
win ahead of Kauffman, Walter Welter and Gor, don Forsythe.
Kauffman led the opening-lap parade in the
second moto, this time keeping Bloemke at bay
for a while longer. While Bloemke wrapped up a
1-1 moto sweep of the class, Kauffman dropped
, back to third behind Welter.
