Dahners came in with a comfortable
margin over Morris who rode a consistent and fast pace after his first-lap misfortune. Sampson collected the fifth spot
as he passed Patterson on the last lap.
After checking lap times it was o,bvious
Sampson was the fastest rider on the
track - he just spotted the leaders a little
too much of a headstart.
Harvey Whitaker rode his Team
Green KLX to the Open A top spot,
while Mark Thurman game,ed second
on his green machine.
Tony Hendon put his Suzuki RMX
out front and took home top honors in
250cc A action. ·Perry's Kawasaki boss
Wade Perry took his KX to a respectable
runner-up finish in that class.
.
Todd Boone and Cody Maxwell
raged all race long in the Four-Stroke A
class, as they have the whole series, and
finished in that order.
Without a doubt the closest race of
the day Was in t/"te 250cc B class li>etween
Andy Shea and Rod Lyonhurst.
''I'm pretty disappointed," Shea said.
"I led the whole race and then on the
last lap just three turns from the finish, 1
tangled with a lapped rider and went
down. He (Lyonhurst) was close enough
to get by before 1got going."
Four-Stroke B competitor Marty
Michels put his Honda XR250 out to the
early lead until an unfortunate get-off at
the end of the first lap netted him a few
cracked ribs, but still soldiered on to
take fourth in the class. Billy Proffit and
Roger Hendon were the top competition
on their XRs as they finished in that
order.
Gallie Ward on his Spot Cycle's Racing Yamaha took top honors in the
Senior A class, while Bill Hall on his
Yamaha stayed close to take runner-up
honors.
Sammy Gosnell handled 'the 125B
class by keeping his Yamaha on the pipe
all day long. Jimmy Bates stayed close to
gamer second.
