Burns heats up Cycleland MX By John·SlIva CHICO, CA, FEB. 16 Aaron Burns smoked both the 125cc and the 250cc Intermediate/Pro classes as motocross racing returned to Cydeland Speedway for the first race of the year. In the first 250cc Intermediate/Pro moto, Yamaha-mounted Burns scorched the relatively smooth "rough scrambles" layout to take the win over Kurt Favre, Tyee Jackson and Mike Morgan. In the second moto, Favre got the more favorable start and edged out Bums around the first corner, with a slower-starting Jackson giving chase. Soo." the lead duo pulled away, with Favre enjoying a slight lead over Burns for the early laps, but Burns dosed to within a few bike lengths by midrace. .In the final laps, Burns challenged Favre repeatedly, but was denied each time by Favre. At the checkered flag, Favre took the win over Bums, but Bums prevailed in the overall score with a 1-2 moto tally. In the 2S0cc Beginner race, Paul Seim scored the first-moto win, topping Mike Clement and Michael Coddery. Clement sewed up the overall win with a second-mota triumph over Seim, with Codderly a consistent third. A competitive group of 12Scc Juniors was on hand, including Kyle Stewart, who banged bars with Joseph Krantz and Matt Morgan before they finished in that order for both the motes and overall.
