The upset wins of the night were by Jesse Vankol, popping two-time winner Chris Canepa's bubble in the F-100 (0-16) Junior ranks, and Tony Rose winning his first Junior race with the help of some good advice from his sprint car champion dad, Pat Rose. The F-1OO (16+) Novice class produced two different winners in Stock and Modified. The Stock main event saw Scott Heywood work the high line to his advantage over Richard Dayton. with David Nance nailing third as road racer Kenny Evan watched the whole thing in fourth. In the Modified class, Corsetti also highlined his way to a convincing victory. Results PI''''' PIP 1. Alysu JenH'n; 2. Lauren Canepa; 3 Emmi Doniak; 4 Kane: Hagopian. P/W NOV· 1. Michael Murphy; 2. CA, NOV. 24 Jeff Willoh's California Racing Gub debut of his new Noleen Yamaha-sponsored ride was a suc- cessful one as he swept both 12Scc Pro motos during the annual Sponsorship Series final round, held at the Los Angeles County Raceway. When the gate dropped in the first moto, Willoh gated third and spent the moto clawing his way to the front. "My rear tire was a little bald," he said. "I got off the gate good, but a couple of guys (Tecranee Malan and Ty Kady) got by me. It took me a while to pass those guys, but I got Terrance with one lap to go and won the moto," Malan fin).shed a close second over Kady. D.J. Sweany held off the last-lap charge of Bill Silvarole for fourth. Willoh made life easier for himsclf by nailing the second-moto start and slowly pulling away for the win. "I had a nice, easy, ride, - he noted. "My Noleen Yamaha works real good. I'd like to thank oleen because they made it possible fOT me to get here. ext year I'm going to be riding 12Scc West Coast Supercross and all the outdoor Nationals fOT Noleen." Malan ran second for much of the second moto before bobbling and letting Kady and Jerry Aleman past. It took Ma.lan a few laps to find a way back around Aleman, and by then Kady was too far gone to catch. Kady collected second-place cash over Malan and the 4-5 rides of Sweany. August CulveT handed Chaz Smith thel2Scc Beginner first-moto win after going down. Culver got up to take second over Steve Harbison. Smith went uncontested wire to wire on his YZ12S for the second moto and his first-ever Beginner-elass overall win. Culver and Harbison chased Smith to no avail. with Culver being slightly faster for the second-place trophy. Results P/W (4-6): 1. Shawn Butler (Yom); 2. BilJy BaUcstero (Yam); 3.
