Left) Davey Yazak (63) passes Mark MUsselman (610) on his way to a fourmoto SWMp at the first round of the etlon Sports Ar8n8cross Series in Day1on, Ohio. Baio;" left) Chris Whitcraft proved unbeatablaln the 80cc (12-13) class in Day1on. Action Honda in the turn at the end of andstand whoops, but Dunaway fell the triple and dropped way back. Once again Perolio was flying and he outran Musselman for fifth, with a" couple of laps to go. Perolio continued to charge and when Katin bobbled, Perolio slipped by for third. Yezel.< and Neese were long gone, and even though Neese put together two fast laps to close in, Yezek picked up his second win of the night. "1 wasn't hitting the turns well enough," Yezek commented. "It started getting slippery and 1 knew he couldn't get inside me, so it turned out good." On Saturday, Yezek won his 12Scc qualifier and got another good start in the main. Sellards, though, timed the gate perfectly and led Yezek and Perolio through the first turn. Sellards was after his first Action Sports indoor win, but Yezek was looking for a way to pass Sellards and outgunned him in the grandstand whoops on lap one. Perolio and Neese also were chasing Sellards, while Katin ran in fifth. After passing Sellards, Yezek stretched out a lead until the ~alfway point when he nearly fell. Yezek remounted in time to collide with eese, dropping them further behind Perolio. Perolio started to reel Sellards in with ee laps to go. The crowd was on its feet as Sellards led Perolio through the oops for the last time. Sellards didn't know Perolio had caught him and he went out wide in the last'tum. Perotic squared off the turn and cut Sellards off as they headed up the finish-line jump. As the leaders slammed together, Yezek roared past them both on the inside to steal the win. Perolio was a foot behind Yezek at the flag and fell off s he flew over the jump. Sellards finished a disappointed third ahead of Neese, Katin, Barry Carsten, Reed, Keith Bowen, Jim Chester and Dunaway. "The whoops were getting slippery and 1 tried to make too tight of a tum and the front end washed out," Yezek said. "1 got stopped up on top of a hay bale. 1 knew Shaun wanted it and 1 knew he was going to go wide if Brock went wide and 1 kept charging. Luckily 1got a break." Perotio recovered from his crash to thrill the crowd with a heel-clicker to win the jumping contest. Yezek had problems in his 2S0cc qualifier and had to win his last-ehance heat to make the main, relegating him to a poor spot on the starting line. Carsten got a great jump off the line, but he trailed Jeff Hedden, Neese and Yezek through the first turn. Hedden had tough luck all weekend, but he was riding well on his F&S Team Racing Suzuki • but Neese was also riding well. Neese was able to clear the finish-line triple, helping him pull away from Yezek and edge closer to Hedden. A lapped rider crashed over the triple and ~den couldn't avoid him and crashed too. Neese joined the wreck and Yezek \Ivoided everything to take over the lead. t Perotio, Carsten and Chester made it afSuzuki parade at the front of the field ~ead of Katin and Bowen. Bowen passed Katin with three laps to go and made it a three-man battle for third, but ~ couldn't find a way past the Suzukis.
