Patton Jr. DAYTON, OH, NOV. 22-24 &5 Tea'm RadnglJT-sponsored Davey Yezek won all four Pro motos at the opener of the 1996-97 Action Sports Arenacross Series. Yezek .powered his Pro Circuit Suzukis to the winner's circle ahead of teammate Shaun Perolio, Jim Neese and Chuck Reed to record the first Pro-class sweep in years. David and Chris Whitcraft dominated the 80cc classes on their SCR / FMFbacked Yamahas. David blasted the 12to 13-year-olds and Chris was unbeatable in the 7- to ll-year-old class. On Friday, after a grueling series of qualifiers and the last-chance consolation, the 12 top 125cc Pro riders came to the line. The odds-on favorite was Yezek, who had won the 1995-96 series and cruised to an easy win in his heat. Yezek led Eastside Suzuki's Chuck Reed and the Team Green Kawasaki pair of Charlie Dunaway and Brock Sellards. Yezek quickly opened up a lead as Reed had his hands full holding off Dunaway and Sellards. Brock passed Dunaway over the finish-line jump after four laps and went after Reed. The action back in th.e pack was furious as the narrow track made passing difficult. One rider finding ways to move up was Shaun Perolio from Saugus, California. Perolio got a horrible star! and had to battle Mike Katin, Barry Carsten, Neese and Jim Chester just to stay in the top 10. Sellards and Reed really went at it as the main event wound down and the crowd got into the duel between the two Ohioans. Sellards jumped the finish-line triple to fly over and past Reed, but Reed carved the inside line in the next hairpin and block-p.assed Sellards. Yezek F claimed the win and Reed was able to use lapped riders to foil Sellards' attempt to get by. Perolio caught Dunaway and snagged the fourth spot with a pass at the end of the grandstand whoops. "The race went good, just the way I wanted," Yezek said. "I tried to stay smooth. I got a little lead at the star! and I just tried to be consistent. Now I'll go out and try to win the 250." In the 250cc main event, Yezek and Neese shared the holeshot and leaped ahead of d,e field. Katin, Mark Musselman and Dunaway were locked up in front of the pack and there was a lot oti bar-banging in the early laps. Dunaway block-passed Katin's PtO'-
