(Left) Richard Robinson won both Over 30 motos·at Millville, Ohio. (Above) Brian Gerth (5) got the flrst-moto holeshot In the 125cc Schoolboy class In Amherst, Ohio. from justin Link and Karl Harrison kept Arnold on his toes throughout both motos. The first mota was run during daylight on the full outdoor track with a supercross section. The second moto then kicked off under the lights, using only the SX section. Harrison started the first moto with a killer holeshot, followed by Link, Zac Crum and Arn.old. Arnold was immediately on the move and powered by Crum in the whoop~ just after the first tum. .. Link was the next target for Arnold as he used his momentum to carry him past Link in a huge bowl berm. Harrison held on to first through the outdoor section,. but bobbled in the turn before the big step-up and let Arnold and Link get by. Harrison was quickly back up to speed, matching the two front-runners' pace. By the whHe flag, Arnold had put a little daylight between himself and everyone else. Arnold crossed the line first, followed by Link, Harrison, Crum and joshua Gautreaux. Link holeshot the nighttime moto, leading Arnold, Crum and Gautreaux, while Harrison went down just out of the gate. Arnold led by the end of the first lap. Harrison also was on the move and quickly dispatched Gautreaux and Crum. By the time the checkered flag came out, Arnold had developed a good lead by going faster on the last lap then he had on the firSt and by getting increasingly more air on the jumps. He crossed the line under the checkers first, followed ·by a strong-riding Link and the improving Harrison, Crum and Gautreaux. Results \0 0'\ 0'\ M 1:'--' C'l l-< OJ "S ~ o z 36 P/W D: 1. Robinson roosts at Sunday Creek MX By Rupert F. Pellett Photo by Mike Lewis MILLVILLE, OH, OCT. 20 Grove City, Ohio's Richard Robinson won both motos of the Over 30 class at this top-notch circuit and followed it up with a second overall in the more competitive Over 25 division during one of District l1's last races of the season. The Russell ranch reeeived a hearty turnout of racers despite the. weather. Fog, wind and an occasional misty rain greeted the enthusiastic crowd of Buckeye riders, and the track was in its usual fine form - long, twisty, and rough - the way motocross is supposed to be. The recent rains negated the need for watering and the track was in perfect moistened condition for excellent racing throughout the classes. In moto one of the Veteran class, Robinson had to fight off an early charge from Steve Anneshansley and his trusty Honda CR500, prior to escaping with the win, but moto two was all Robinson as he simply r:an away with it, gate to checkers. In the younger, more competitive Over 25 division, it was Jeff Flora and his Honda that spoiled the day for Robinson, as he used a second-moto win to take the overall, despite riding with a banged-up, rear-fenderless CR2SO from a previous moto spilL Robinson settled for second, and Yellowsprings' George Twaddle, on yet another Honda, took third. In Mini action, the SOcc (4-6) class belonged to Devan Welch, as the Coolville youngster whipped his KTM50 SX-PRO into the.front to conquer both motos easily, The Mini junior and Super Mini divisions were commanded by Pickerington's Chris Whi tcraft, as the nationally ranked minicyc1e star won all four motos aboard his Yamaha YZ80. Gracyk grabs CRA MX win By Steve sn.d Deb Middlesworth Photo by Steve Middlesworth AMHERST, OH, OCT. 27 The final event of the Competition Riders of America's Fall Series at the Meadowlarks Motorcycle Club's motocross facility drew 261 riders, with Gavin Gracyk earning-top honors in the 125cc Schoolboy class. Brian Gerth grabbed the holeshot in moto one and cleanly led from start to finish with Ryan Pyers and Matt Macon waging a battle for second closely behind the leader. Gracyk had to get Brian Christ in fourth before attempting to close down on the leaders. Gracyk eventually did get by Christ and Macon as well, but could progr.ess no further than third for his efforts. Gerth won moto one easily with Pyers finishing in second and Gracyk third. ._ Gracyk cleared the first turn in moto two with the lead and set a blistering pace. Firstmoto winner Gerth got a poor start and faced having to charge up through traffic to try to salvage an overall victory. As Gracyk stretched it out, Macon secured a firm grip on second with Kevin Karasevic close behind. Crashes plagued Gerth and he could only muster a seventh as Gracyk strolled in with the overall class win. Macon captured second overall with the disappointed Gerth in third. Gerth did manage to redeem himself somewhat as he convincingly won the Senior Mini class with 1-1 finishes. Gracyk doubled up on class wins as he handily swept the Super Mini class. Team Green's Vince Kamow swept both Pro classes as he edged out josh Demuth for overall honors. Although Karnow cleanly won b.oth motos of the 125cc class, it was the misfortunes of Demuth that awarded him the 2S0cc cash. Demuth slid out in a turn late in moto one, allowing the dogging Karnow to get by for the win, In mota two Demuth detailed his chain on the last lap after leading from the start. Again Karnow was there to capitalize and motor in for the win. Demuth's second-moto DNF gave the overall runner-up spot to Dave Hand, with john Davis receiving third. Results JR P/W: I. K. Greer victor at Virginia HS By Kelly Allen 5URRY, VA, NOV. 3 Seventeen-year~old Jason Greer collected his third overall victory of the season at round 12 of the Virginia Championship Hare Scrambles Series. Steven Arthur nailed the holeshot on a CRSOO in front of the rest of the AA field, but just staying in front would not be enough on this day as Casey Cycle City-sponsored Greer put his YZl25 in high gear and gave chase just one minute later. Greer quickly motored past the majority of the AA class and soon found himself on'the rear fender of Arthur's bike. Catching the big Honda was one thing; passing it would be a whole different story. "Every time he got on the gas, I got pounded by roost, it felt like a shotgun blast whenever I got close to hirn,." said Greer, who soon realized that it was much wiser to back off ana ride smart for the win. Arthur wasn't about to give up without a fight. "I knew T had to finish a minute ahead of him (to make up for the corrected time)," he said. "So I poured it on, hoping he would tire out, but I ran out of time. I would have liked to have gone another lap." Arthur came up about 30 seconds short of reaching his goal. Third overall and the second AA was just what George Greer needed to secure the AA championship for 1996. "I wanted to go for the overall but I couldn't take a chance on losing the championship to do it," lamented Greer, who came into the race virtually deadlocked with Kawasaki pilot Daniel
