SATURDAY
Pederson showed his solid finishes
the night before were no fluke by shooting to the lead at the start of the 12Scc
race. Palmer was close behind with
Stephenson and Antunez hot on his
heels. DeHoop followed iri fifth with
Jones riding like a man possessed and
.closing fast in sixth. Riding his new Tearn
Green madrine for the first time the night
before, Jones was starting to look more
comfortable on his new mount as he
quickly replaced DeHoop in fifth.
With second through fifth in a tight
.group all trying to get a wheel in on
Pederson, the Yamaha rider was able to
keep control bf the lead spot with relative ease.. Two laps from the finish,
Jones made a move on Antunez over the
rockers, but lost control and landed in
the hay bales. The Kawasaki rider
remounted to finish 15th. Mike Katin
moved into fifth at the finish.
Pederson rode to the Win, his second
of the weekend. "There was no making
a mistake," Pederson said. "Palmer,
Stephenson and Antunez were right
there. You could have thrown a blanket
over all of us:'
Palmer was back on the rostrum with
his runner-up finish, though he had
tried for more. "1 pushed, I stuck a
wheel in, I did everything," Palmer said.
"Chad (Pederson) just rode real good
tonight."
Stephenson finished third with
Antunez fourth.
The start of the 250cc event saw Pederson again taking the holeshot, followed by Stephenson, Antunez and
"DeHoop. After his untimely get-off in
the 125cc race, Jones was determined to
make amends and by lap two of the 20lap event he passed DeHoop.
, Antunez soon moved by Stephenson
over the doubles to take over second,
where he would finish.
Pederson rode on to take his third
win of the weekend and left New York
