Fisher fast at Play Fair HM By Clay Light SPOKANE, WA, SEPT. 14 Oregon's Rex Fisher ran away with 750cc Expert main event, taking a large chunk of the $6000 purse at the Play Fair Half Mile. Fisher grabbed the opening-lap lead ahead pf Ronald Yamamoto. After a brief three-lap tussle, Fisher shook off the diminutive speedster and opened up a huge gap, one that he'd maintain to the finish, netting $1000. Following Fisher and Yamamoto were local riders Steve Liberty and Lonny Kopp, while Jerry Southworth, Mike Sullivan and Canada's Paul laVoie followed. National number-38 plate holder Steve Mayfield led the 600cc Expert field, which also would pay $1000 to the winner, while fellow C:alifornian Andy Tresser loomed in his shadow. Tresser stayed on Mayfield's rear wheel for the entire main event, making a last~lap move, not for the faint of heart, to take away Mayfield's win. Mickey Fay, who ran third from the second lap to the finish, held off Jaime Aguilar for the posi.tion. Fisher finished fifth. "We're looking at a possible 600cc. National for next year," said egram, taking home· two wins for his efforts. Of aU of the classes in the evening's programs, the 600cc Amateur was the largest at 23 riders. Once the field was trimmed to 18 riders for the final, Adderson went wire-to-wire to beat local riders Robb Kopp and Archie Triber. Adderson took win number two in the Vintage class, which was open to Pre-1976 motorcycles. His Harley-Davidson XR750 beat the Triumphs of Steve Kendig and Matt James. Results 750 EX: 1.
