Sauro quickly dropped Gross back to third overall but still first in his class, Up front, Burnett could only enjoy his glory for a few moments as Truchinski arid Sauro w~re adapting themse~ves to the deep sand and rapid Iy gaining speed, Sauro started to push Truchinski and the duo flew past Burnett in the blink of an eye. Sauro was determined to take the lead and was all over Truchinski's rear tire. Sauro went for the pasS at the huge uphill drop-away sand jump, Sauro a,nd Truchinski flew 70 feet side by side but Truchinski had the inside line going into th.e next turn and stuffed Sauro and motored away. Sauro lost a few seconds during the encounterl but was back on the charge in no time. Back in the pack, Burnett held third while local favorite Billy McClintock was coming back from a poor start and bad luck to take over fourth. McClintock made a run for Burnett toward the end of the race, but was unable to close the gap before the checkered, Up front, Tnlchinski was ahead with Sauro's shadow following him around every turn. Sauro . made numerous attempts fot the lead only to crash during the last lap, With the pressure off, Truchinski cruised in to take the first-moto win. In moto two, it was another battle of the Hondas. Truchinski wanted the win and the overall, but Sauro wanted it more. Burnett nailed the holeshot in the Pro class, followed by Truchinski and Sauro. Burnett's lead was shortlived when he took a soil sample at the beginning of lap· one. At this point the race for the cash was between Truchinski and Sauro, Truchinski started to pull a slight lead during the opening lap, On the second lap, Sauro almost lost his chance at the overall with several crashes. Truchlnski found himself with a huge lead and fell into a consistent pace. As the laps wore on, Truchinski had no idea that Sauro was riding like a man possessed and was chipping away at the lead tum after tum. With two laps to go, Truchinski saw that Sauro was on the gas and tried to kick in the afterburners, but it was a lost cause. Sauro was all over Truchinski on the last lap, and at the same tum, Trucrunski stuffed Sauro in the first lap. Sauro dived to the inside and T..ruchinski's concentration was gone as he £lew over the berm. Sauro thanked Truchinski for the cash and went on to take the win. Results 125 PRO: I.
