I·EVENTS (Left) Butch Cochran took the win In the Modem Vintage 250cc class at the AHRMA Western Region dirt track at California's Quincy Speedway. (Below left) J.J. Bonanno (H), Travis Cerny (8), and A.J. Stogner (300) line up for the start of a 125cc Beginner moto at round four of Antelope Valley Fairground's Hot Superc.ross Nights Series held In Palmdale, California. Bonanno's perfect 1-1 score won' him first overall, while Cerny's 3-3 finishes earned him third overall behind Gary Rlos. Bonanno got things started off in his favor by reeling off the fust-moto holeshot. Gary Rios gated in second and kept Bonanno in sight for a lap before Bonanno picked up the pace and walked away with the win. Travis Cerny tracked down Rios and turned the last lap into a side-by-side battle, with Rios" getting the nod at the checkers. The second moto was a repeat of the first, Bonanno leading the pack down the long start straight and Rios glued to his back fender. By lap two Bonanno was warmed up and set a blistering pace that left everyone else in the dust. Rios settled for a lonely second, well ahead of Cerny, who fought his way up to third. Jason aeI easily topped the fust round of 125cc Beginner Divison Two racing after his dosest competition, Fred Steele, slid out in mud in the opening lap. Chris Torres finished second just ahead of Steele, Garrett Stines and Mark McMurray. Steele grabbed the second-moto start over Ebel, Chris Casaus and Stines. Steele managed to stay upright and slowly pulled away from Ebel for the win. Ebel's runner-up finish was good enough for the first-place overall trophy. Torres worked his way past. both Casaus and Stines to earn third in the final standings over the 4-5 of Stines. Travis Preston and Donald Upton waged war over the top spot in both the 125cc and 250cc Pro cfasses. Preston got Upton on the start every time, but Upton was leading when it counted most, at the checkered flag. Results P/W BEG: 1. Brice Rutherford (LEM); 2. Timmy Ritzier (KTMl; 3, Nicholas Sanchez.
