(Below left) Mickey Fay (13) battles Speedy Kell (54) for the lead in the Expert main event at Hannegan Speedway In Bellingham, Wisconsin, Fay taking the wir despite a race restart and fierce competition, (Above right) Daryl Agar (420) swept the 80cc Intermediate class at the Wild West Motocross in Rupert, Idaho, Greaves invades GLRRA at Grattan By Jackl Fisher BELD~G,Ma,fULY1~14 Privateer Rad Greaves showed up and sent the points leaders into a fast and furious game of musical chairs at the third round of The Great Lakes Road Racing Association's inaugural series in at Grattan Raceway Park in Belding, Michigan, winning five races and proving him· self unstoppable, Greaves and Greg Gibson went head-to-head in the Expert GTO, until the middle of the race when Greaves motored by Gibson on the straightaway. Greaves' GSXR begin misting oil, which prevented Gi.bson from mounting a serious challenge. With oil on his face shield, Gibson settled for second. On Sunday, the pace quickened. In the Middleweight Super Comp, Gibson grabbed first position and never looked back, Larry Delll1ing, Monte Nichols and Brad Reese provided the action. Denning got around Reese on the second lap and stayed in second place to the checkered flag, Reese fought for third witll Nichols on his rear tire, and on the white-flag lap finally made his way past Reese in the hairpin and tried to get away, But Nichols went wide coming out of the off-camber turn three, allowing Reese to go inside to retake third place by tum four. Nichols finished fourth while Jeff Kramer battled his way into fifth place, The Michigan GP treated fans to the fastest racing of the weekend, The race was red-flagged on the first lap when Gibson high-sided exiting tum one in front of most 4the field, ending his day, For the restart, Gibson's brother Brian took the early lead and held it to the white flag, A hard-charging Greaves had slipped up through the pack past Delll1ing and Kramer to move into second with a daring inside pass on Reese through the rippled pavement in the esses, Setting his sights on the leader, Greaves stuffed Gibson by going outside through the right-hand tum five and then 'bus-stopped' Gibson enlering the left/right combination before the Grattan "bowl."
