for the entire race. Steve Martynse, Rich Marcucci, Sisemore, Matt Beclcer and Bart Bast all battled for position behind the leader, the flye riders so close together that a blanket could have
been thrown over all of them at almost any point
in the race.
As the race progressed, Beclcer came into the
first comer and spun two doughnuts on the rear
wheel, looking as if he had hold of a bucking
bronco. Martynse did an excellent job of holding
the pack at bay to finish second behind MacDonald, and Bast nipped bast Marcucci at the
line to take third.
Louis Kossuth started on the outside in the
Scratch main event, Tommy Hedden took the
pole, and Bast and Sisemore were sandwiched in
between. Sisemore got the holeshot as the rest of
the field came out of the first comer three abreast
As they went into the next comer, Hedden went
high while Bast stayed on the pole, giving his second place. The rest of the race was a freight train,
Sisemore taking fitst foUowed by Bast and J-back victories ahead of Terry Hamness and Mike Hamness, accompanied by the announcement that
"you-cut/you-halI" firewood was available aher
the race, though the use of chainsaws was prohibited due to the number of motorcycle parts
embedded in the wood.
