'MOTOCROSS' Championship Series Round 8: Unadilla Valley Sports Center AMA 1251250cc National Motocross By Cameron Coatney Photos by KarL Ockert NEW BERLIN, NY, JULY 21 eam Suzuki's Greg Albertyn has final! y broken his curse of bad luck by taking the overall victory in the 250cc class at the legendary Unadilla Valley Sports Center, just outside of New Berlin. The three-time World Motocross Champion has not had much luck since coming to the states to race at the beginning of 1995, as numerous injuries and crashes have made an overall victory very elusive for the South African rider. Albertyn's 2-2 moto tally was good enough to T 14 secure the overall win on a day that saw Team Honda's Jeremy McGrath basically crash out of contention for the win in the first moto, and saw Team Kawasaki's Jeff Emig do the same in the second moto while leading early on lap one. The overall victory was by no means handed to Albertyn, as he fought hard and rode well all day long - even after crashing himself early in the first moto. "I'm so happy right now, it feels amazing," said an elated Albertyn. "It's been a long time coming. I've sort of (Above) Three-time World Champion Greg Albertyn finally won his first National overall victory at Unadilla. The Team Suzuki pilot won with a 2-2. (Left) Team Honda's Steve Lamson simply decimated the rest of the field In the first 125cc moto, and played it smart to finish second in moto two, securing his sixth National win of the year.
