gan said he was a little sore, but unhurt. "It could have been worse." . Wait explained that "coming down through nine and 10 me and (Mike) Smith were dueling it out and this lapper was in front of Smith. He (Smith) went out to the right and J went to the left and I broke late, and right when J got up to the corner the lapper was turning in and I had nowhere to go. So I had to pinch the front brake off and tuck the front end and went down. But J scrambled, got the bike back up, but it was just lappers, man. I went fom fifth to 12th. It's frustrating, but I know that J can run up fronf now. It's just a matter of putting everything together. 1 was going for it and it was bad luck." The spill ca used the pack to sh uffle slightly and' when they came around the next lap Rothman, who was in fifth when the spill happened, had a gap on Crevier with Toland close by, then Harrington and Smith. They weren't going to catch the lead four, but the order would change as Crevier made his bid on the 16th lap, getting by Rothman going into turn one. "For the first half of the race Pridmore Smith and Harrington were up there, (as well as) Matt Wait," Rothman said. "We were pretty much staying single-file for the most part and then like when tbe halfway Hags carp.e out or right around, that is when people started getting more aggressive. "I was fifth for most of the second half of the race and Crevier was on me, and ,[ got wide in one one time and he snuck it by me. He got a good drive out of 10 to get me. We were at the top of the hill and we were on the brakes and 1 could see him out of the comer of my eye and I started to go to the inside, but it was already too late. He'd already punched by me. We were real close at the end. I tried him a couple of times coming off nine and 10, but it was a tough deal because J had Toland on my back. So if I went wide to get a good run on Crev, I'd get passed." "I had a pretty good race because 1 had Toland behind me and I had Rothman to catch and there was a crash in 11 that took out some guys and it was just pretty eventful for me," Crevier said. "I just started pushing too hard, and J think when you start pushing too hard you end up slowing'down. My last three laps were my best laps according to Bobby Weindorf, my mechanic. Obviously I had it in me to go quick. but I didn't go quick, quick enough again. Now I know what 1 have to train "to get back for Sears Poinl" Toland had moved into seventh after Wait's crash and stayed there to th.e end, right in the mix with the others, but not able to make a pass. Smith was next across the line, again not close enough to do any damage. Then came Weichel with Harrington on him, the two having hoqked up on the 12th lap with Weichel making the pass on the final lap to take ninth. Harrington was a shadow 10th, then a gap to Stevens.
