between these two men, who appeared to be
quite evenly matched. After a successful
holeshot, Shon had to chase Aaron throughout
the race. Shon desperately wanted a win as he
had been narrowly shut out in the 750cc and
Open Supersport contests. Despite closing drives
by Shon. it was Aaron who came out on top.
The Lightweight Supersport class was
graced by the entry of Rema TiIlit, who finished
second overall during the 1995 season. Today
she pitted her Honda FVSOO against Carl Nagy
and Stephen Pugsley. earl and Stephen pulled
away early in the race, and by the third lap it
was becoming clear that Stephen aboard his
roaring Honda NT6S0 was going to prevail in
this event. While Nagy and Tillitt used a smooth
cornering method, Pugsley leaned his bike over
rather abruptly in the entrance to the bowl
tion. This method served him well as he went on
to take the class win with a one-lap lead on his
rivals.

NEWMAN, CA, JUNE 22
Matt Tuckett tool: ownership of the Pee Wee
Stock and Modified B classes as the Stockton
Motorcycle Club continued its Short Track
Series at Newman.
Tuckett has very slow starts but that is the
only thing that is slow about this young man.
Tuckett had to ride hard to make his passes bu.t
pass he did, with lcnife-sharp moves and a tight
tuck on the straightaways.
Rob Damron, Danny Hart and Kevin Bricker
made the race in the 14-rider main event for the
Open As. A 14-rider main at Newman can be a
heart-stopping event, as the track seems often to
be very slick. Fortunately this evening the tr;lck
was superb; nice and sticky with no dust.
The Open C main-event winner was Mark
Amaro. This was good for Amaro as he has
come up empty-handed too many times this season. Amaro does a good job, and showed all just
how good he is tlUs night. Marty Weisler took
the second-place spot.
Levi Gennan was back from the motocross
world and was the winner of the Pro-Am
Novice main. This win was not easy as German
had Jeff Gabhart on his rear wheel for all 12 laps.
The Pro-Am Expert win went to Rob Damron after he made a very close pass on Mark
Corsetti. Corsetti gave Damron the six inches he
needed to stick his wheel in there. Damron
makes these close passes and never touches the
guys next to him. Corsetti picked up the secondplace points, with t/Urd going to Danny Hart.
Unfortunately for the 2SOcc C riders, a getoff marred their evening of racing. Kenny Holland got off in the direct path of the other riders,
was run over and had to take a ride to the hospitai, suffering a broken hip, dislocated knee and
of course the many abrasions that go along with
this business. Andrew Boehan won the event
with Riley Cox taking second.
