Stanley, Fay clash at Jackson Prarie TT By Clay Light JACKSON PRARIE, WA, JUNE 14 Northwest IT specialists Dan Stanley and Mickey Fay clashed in what could have been the most closely contended Expert main event thus far in the young 1996 AMA District 27 outdoor season at the inaugural round of the Jackson Prarie IT Series. A preview of the Experts' main event came in the.first of two qualifiers. Stanley narrowly edged Fay for a win and the pole position for the main. Heat two went Chris Fitzhugh's way after he edged out Del Schnitzer. A last chance qualifier took four riders to the 12-rider, 20-lap Expert feature, won by Ron Waters after early leader Eli Price fell. Stanley, much as he has done all season long. shot to the head of the pack at the start of the Expert/ Pro-Am main event. The only difference w~s that instead of this being a Stanley runaway, Fay was right there to challenge his every move. Stanley rode a flawless ride, one that would earn hit\>. top payofi, beating Fay by a wheel. Jeff Annen also notched a stellar performance, nabbing third ahead of Fitzhugh and Troy Rose. Diminutive speedster Chris Waite picked up a pair of wins in the 80cc DTX and 60/80cc Combo classes, but could only watch as Jake Holden ran away with the SOcc A main. Holden, proving his prowess on larger machin.es as well, scored a win in the hotly-contested 250cc A main, where he beat Suzuki rider Robert ·Rosie and Nick McBride Jr. to score a pair of wins. McBride came back to top the 125cc A main to further his stranglehold on the class points lead, easily outdistancing the eight-rider field. Nick McBride Sr. also had a good night after topping the Open A main. Kawasaki rider Nick Sellers posted a strong showing in the 60cc A main, beating Michael Rochester, and placed second to .Waite in the 6O/8Occ Combo class. Results VET 250 BEG: 1.
