Bu t Waters pr evailed on both Friday and Saturday nights. Oregon' s Ryan Anderson and Washington's Troy Rose gave him a tough race on Friday; Saturda y's Expert main, on the other hand, wa s . mu ch easier for Waters, even though Anderson an d Cha rlie Brown di d th ei r best to pu t the clamps on him. "I nearly gave the lead aw ay three times on Friday," said Waters. "The worst one was on the final lap with And erson right on my wheel." AMA National 80cc Champion Jake Ho lden also had a great weeke nd . Riding a pair of Hondas, Holden wo n two BOcc classes each night, topping the 80cc A and 80cc DTX events. Ho lden, who also rode a 250cc Honda, took two secondplace finishes to Eric Beers in the 250cc A main. In the 80cc A main, Ho lden w as neve r challenged either night. A great batt le for second on ' Frid ay went Ch ris Waite's way ahead of Kurt Hawk . In the 80c c DTX class, Scoo ter Vernon gave Holden fits, finishing a close second. Hawk trailed Holden to the finish in both 80cc events on Satu rda y. Cu rrently one of the hottest amateur riders in the No rthwes t is Washingt on's Beau Brown. Brown, who has won seven races in a row in the Open Amateu r ran ks, d om inated both races, beating Hond a rider Jason Burchette, an oth er local favorite.
