'lJ Brad Hol t continued his unbeaten streak as he easily won the 250cc Pro main for the third time this season at Barona Speedway. . Holt took the lead from the sta rt in the 250cc Pro main event and wa s gone. Former nationa l number 11 Jim McMu rre n held sec on d ov er John Dupree a nd Steve Gorby. Dupree was riding the high groove, McMurren was rid ing low, a nd Go rby was pu ttin g the pressu re on fro m beh ind . At the finish, Dupree had a comfortab le lead over McMurren bu t had not cu t into Holt's winn ing margin. The race fans were on their feet as the riders rolled out for the Ope n Pro main eve nt. Travis Pe tto n an d John Dup ree jumped the gun an d we re se n t to the pen a lty line. On the resta rt, John Garda gra bbed the lead over Holt w it h Pe luso, No li n, an d Aragon follo wi ng . Pelt on was up to fifth by the second lap w ith Dup ree right behind . On lap thr ee, coming out of tum two , Hol t got into a big sideways. Petto n an d Dupree d id no t hesitate a nd shot in to seco nd a nd thi rd place wi th Nolin follow ing . Ga rda was riding smoo thly a full straightaway ahe ad when the crossed flags we re d isplayed . Petton mad e his move; Dup ree fell back. Every lap Petton knocked a couple of bike lengths off Garcia's lead until, wi th one lap to go, he wa s all cau gh t up. Squaring off turns three and four, Petton go t a d rive on Ga rcia and pulled alon gside him as th e y approached the wh ite flag . Ga rcia was positioned pe rfectly on the outside and held his line as they en tered tum one. Petton wen t for the win and d rove in und er the Hond a. Garcia held his line. Pelton p ut the Rotax on its cases to avo id con tact bu t cau ght a ru t and high -sided hea vily. Ga rcia went on to the win with Dupree a dis tant second and Nolin third .
