Racing was furious from the star t w ith 1995 class champion Eddie Tumlin II crui sing to victory in the 50cc (4-6) class . Alth ough Tuml in's w in was sure, second and third wa s a battle to the stripe with Sou th Ca ro lin a rid e r Patrick John son bar ely holdi ng off Georgia 's own Clayton Sims, who wa s riding a Honda Q50 that he won here as last year's Grand Door Prize. In 85ec action, Ho nda rider Gar rett Weaver rod e a fine race to defeat last year's nemesis and co u sin Brandon W eaver. Husky ride r Travis Wood s kept the Bu ltaco rider honest in the Open main bu t e ve n tua lly had to settle for secon d over Yamaha rider Gary Weaver, who finished third . Sou th Caro lina's Kirk John son was off like a bulle t in the Vin tage class fina l. bu t w as no mat ch for the DMR OSSA of Burroughs. After a once com fortable lead . AP 27 R. -28 Brock Sellard s took wins in the 12Scc Stock A, 250cc Stock A and 12Scc Mod ified A classes at a Loretta Lynn 's area quali fying weekend which drew 611 entran ts to Pro Sport Motocross Park a nd d oub led as round five of the AMA USA MegaSeries. Sellard s was not the only multiple class win ner. Jeff Gibson won the Super Mini an d Schoolboy di vi sions. Matt hew Freed topped the 250cc Modified C and Unlimited C com petition, and Ron Jones rod e to 30+ A. 35+, and Op en victories. . The first 125cc Modi fied B moto sa w Jon Boru ff heading th e pack of 29 for th e e n tire moto, while Jeffery Ryan, Josh Ca pps, John Fann and Preston Rose duked it out for the rest of the top five spo ts, also finishing in that order. Mar cu s Hed rick bett er ed h is b ack-of-thepack first-ro und fini sh by winning mot o two. First-moto wirmer Boruff came off the line way back, and was forced to work his way u p to 11th for a hard -fou gh t fou rth overall. Ryan W3!' on Hed rick like whi te on rice for the wh ole way, banging and bum ping . With half a lap to go, the pair sailed sid e-by-side over the long back-side ski jUmp. Hedri ck reappeared , still in the lead, but Ryan finally sho wed u p in eigh th. Just a few tu rns before the flag. Ryan crashed aga in. fmally finish ing in 16th for the moto, eigh th overall.
