Davis Tops B & L Supercross

Scott Davis held off a hard-cllarging Jeff Brownlee of Modes to for the Pro-dass honors at B & L
Racing Promotion's Frida y Night Supercross at
Sacramento Raceway.
Davis took the holeshot and led every lap of
the firs t Io-lap Pro m ota. Brownlee ke pt his
Suzuki close but couldn't make a pass stick and
had to se ttle for second. Davis repeated his starting-line mastery with an other pe rfect holeshot
in moto two. Brownlee again followed in second
an d made his wa y past Davis on lap four. "This
w as short-lived , however, as Da vis retaliated
an d made his way back into the lead on lap six.

Brian Foster traded moto wins with Micha el
Curce in the highly competitive Pee Wee class.
Fos ter's 1-2 mota scores were good enough for
the overall, wi th Curci getting the nod for second.
Robe rt Ferreira's last-minut e win in mo to
one of the 125cc Beginner class combined with
his well-deserved win in mota two assured top
honors . Seventeen wild-eyed beginners left th e
line in the first moto w ith Cory Bunse emergin g
from the first tum wi th the lead . Ferre ira's midpac k start ca use d so m e hard wo rk for the
Modesto rider. Bunse was able to hold off Ferreira and h is Yamaha of Modesto & Independent Racin g Sp ons o red Yamaha fo r five la ps
until Ferreira made his move on the las t lap .
The secon d moto was all Ferreira with a
start-to-finis h mota win. Bunse was mired with
a midpack start an d could do no better than fifth
at the checkers. Jesse Dawson used consis ten t &4 finish es to put his Honda on the podium for
third o verall.

Watkins masters Honda
Hills Motocross

Thirty-five-year-old Sco tt Watkins showed th e
younger guys th e fast wa y aroun d this Central
Ohio course, sweeping all fou r motos of the A
classes and strangely avo iding the Vet classes in
fa vor of money cJasses.

A-d ass mota would see Watkins stage an other
of his us ual ho leshots as Jon Schmitz gave chase.
Watkins q u ick ly estab lished a lead as the
smoo th-rid ing veteran led to the finish. Schmitz
hel d off a ha rd-charging Billy Demastry third.
The 125cc A class was another showplace for
Kenton, Oh io' s Wa tk ins, as the Kawsaki pilo t
wo n bo th mo tos convincingly, leaving the dicing
to the rest of the field. Christopher Beny would
tally a seco nd and Jason Frecker snagged third
overall afte r cruising to a fifth in the first moto,
an d turning on the fuel in moto tw o, jamming
his way to seco nd -place, Columb us Ohio 's Joey
De va u lt wa s _
the master o f the 250cc B cla ss,
fighting off all cha llen gers for the overall wi th 2I mota finis hes.
