lap . In the third lap, Nelson got by Esposito and
Preston. As Nelson started to pull away, the battle for the runner-up spots began to heat u p..
Spud Walters, Saturda y's 125cc Pro-class wi nner, was all over Matson by la p four. Walters
d ogged Matson for two laps before roos ting into
fourth. With only a few laps remaining. Walters
was able to make a pass on Espos ito. When the
checkered flag flew, it was Nelson with a clear
win, followed by Preston and Walters.
Preston grabbed the mota-two holeshot, but
before the field rounded the back section of the
course. Lytle edged him out for the lead . Esposito and Ryan Oark filled out the top four pos itions, but it was Nelson coming from an other
poor start who stole the show. Nelson flew by
Oark and Esposito to take over third and quick ly set his sights on the leaders. Nelson was on
fire and rapidly moved in on Preston within a
few lap s. Soon Nelson took over seco nd place
and started to descend on the leader. Lytle held
off Nel so n for a few laps, but started making
small mistakes that enabled Nelson to take over
the lead. Ne lso n crossed the finish line taking
the malo win as well as the overall for the day.
Ly tle finished next, b ul Preston took second
place for the day.
