Buehl came ou t of the first-tu m ma yhem and never looked bac k. Gaddis and DeH oop we re again left lying in the dirt. W hen th e 12Scc main starte d, Woosley p ut his D&S Kawasaki into the lead wit h Gaddis, Buehl and Owens in p ursui t. Gad dis went p ast Woosley in th e whoops early. By the end of the fifth lap, Buehl also passed Woosley . Ga ddis pu lled o ut a good -size lea d which later proved not to be enough to beat Buehl. "I passed Jimmy two turns from the end on the inside," said Buehl. "We cam e into .the last comer together and I miscalculated what gear I needed ," said Gaddis. "I bogged a lit tle b it and he rip p ed ba ck past me. I got in with some lappers near the end, and I knew Buehl was coming. I said, 'Hurry, you go t to go: It was a good ba ttle: ' Gra yson Goodman worked up from the middle of the pack to finis h a strong fourth. Buehl p owered to the lead in th e 2S0cc final , le a d in g Owens and DeHoop. By the end of the second lap, though, DeHoop was in the lead and setting a blazin g pace. O wens, Gaddis and Bu ehl traded paint lap after lap. At the halfway point, Gaddis was running second ahead of Buehl. Ga ddis was all over DeHoo p, and the two battled just as they had do ne in their heat race. On the last lap , DeHo op went d own in the same tu m w here he had pushed Gadd is out in the heat race.
