Racing around in third was new pro Dennis Kritzer, but Scott Myers found h is way a round when Kritzer bogged in a berm. Rick Ryan gassed up to cha llenge Kritzer next, taking over fourth after a br ief battle. Out front, Hummel and Walters raced away fro m th e pa ck, with Walter s trying every move possible within the confines of the "blue groove." Walters was chased to the flag by Ryan, Myers, Hummel, and Neal. In the 250cc Pro race , Hummel won the first mo to over Ryan and Gomm, with Walters and Myers ' fourth a nd fifth, respectively . In the second 250cc moto, Ryan took the ea rly lead fo ll o w ed close ly b y M yer s and Wal ters . Pa t Gomm was running fourth before he cra shed hard in a deep rnudhole, and came up sporting a head-to-toe mud coat. The spill dropped Gomm back to 10th place, but a determined ride brought him up to finish a respectable seventh.
