Th is amounted to a Friday spent chasing th e sta rs for autographs, and Satu rd ay going to th e race in Sea ttle. We are a.ll avid rid ers and racers, following all kinds of m ot orcycle sports. On Friday, after go ing to Lynwood to see the Yamaha riders, we we nt to the Kawasaki shop, also located in Lynwood. An yway, w e w aited and waited and no Kawasaki stars showed u p . What' s u p wi th that ? Where is rider loyalty? The guys at the shop felt reall y bad so they gave away a lot of cool stu ff - Tvsh irts, jerse ys, tapes, goggles, etc. But it still left a bad taste in my mouth. P.S. H e w as a treasured member of the Vikings M / C and lon g-time District 37 rider. He w ill be missed by everyone w ho had the plea sure of knowing him. On another subject, there are those in the m otor news bu sin ess who do not kn ow th e d ifference between a "Beemer" an d a "Bimmer." From an historical perspective, I offer the following terminology clarificati ons: In the p resence o f a BMW au tomobile ow ne r, never refer to yo ur BMW m ot orcycl e as a "Bimmer." In the presence of a BMW motorcycl e ow ner, never refer to your BMW automobil e as a "Beemer." Each group con s iders th e af or ementi on ed terms th e ir exclus ive righ t an d invention. At th e risk of noting th e obvio us, I suggest th at in the presen ce o f e ither, ne ver ref er to your BMW as a "Bu mmer."
