The sun came out and dried the track a little as Rush pulled the holeshot for the second moto. Jenkins was starting to make u p some ground on Barnes when he wen t in to the bann ers at the scoring section but was able to retain third as he was ahead of Eary . Then Eary fell down , movin g Calhoun to th ird while Rand y Pau lin go t by Barnes for fourth. The third lap saw more changes as Calhoun went down in the mud , moving Paulin up one spo t. But Paulin d idn't like third eith er and he went down. Demuth's da man at Marion Indoor Motocross By Carl Davis MARlON,OH. jAN.I 3-14 Local boy josh Demuth was a consistent front runner when the American Motosports Association kicked off the 1996 racing season wi th its fourth annual AMA-sanctione d Ohio 1nd oo r Championsh ip Series inside the Marion Coliseurn. Demuth ma de the most of being close to ho me th roughout the weekend d uring th e 125 and 2SOcc Pro action. Round one started with the 125cc A battle roya l as Demu th put his Yamaha into the lead wh ile defendi ng series cha mpion Chuck Reed quickl y moved into th ird place to pressu re Kawasaki-mo unte d Josh Swea t, with former factory Yamaha star Keith Bowen on the move as well. Sweat crashe d out at the midpoint with mechanical problems after challenging for the lead to allow Bowen to move in on Reed , who wicked it up a notch to close in on Demu th in the final laps . But De mut h held on to win while Reed finished second and Bowen third. Sunday' s 125cc A race also featured intense racin g, bu t this time Chuck Reed was in complete control as he pu t his F&S-sponsored Suzuki ou t front to lead w ire- to-w ire with Tommy Collier's Suzu ki close on his rear fende r to claim second overall. Jake Davis motored to third . In Satur days 250cc A main , Demuth battled wi th Bowen as the du o pu lled away from th e rest of the pack. Demu th led for I I laps, but on the w h ite-flag lap , Bowen mad e an agg ressive pass, coming off, the tri ple to mus cle hi s way in to th e lead an d win. john Dav is hel d on to third for most of the moto only to be passed by Reed as he was blitzin g through the pack after a bad start.
