BELDEN HILLS, NY,DEC17 With a foot and a half of new snow and a large tu rnout of expert ride rs, things were bound to heat up at the Belden Hills off-road area du ring the SDR Hare Scrambles, and they did for Terry Kuhn. When the g reen flag flew , so did a h uge clo ud of sno w a s Co n ra d Parsh ell got t he holesh ot followed by Cra ig Estelle, Kuh n and Doug Welch with several riders go ing down in the first tu m . You could have thrown a blanket ove r the first fou r riders until ha lfway through lap fo u r, whe n Kuhn s tuffe d h is wa y pa s t Estelle. Then, on lap six, he took the lead from Pa rshe ll only to lose it a short time lat er. But then on the final lap, Parshell's Yamaha ran ou t of gas in the woods, giving the lead and the win to Kuhn. Future star 'Mike Williams turned in ano ther bea u tiful ride in the O ·UMlc:c Amateur class. On the second lap Loomis went from third to first with a good line cho ice in the woods while Williams stayed in second place.
