80 There's two kinds of serious off-road riders. The first group consists of competitive cross-country racers, who love to see if they can get from here-to there-Ja,ster and quicker than anyone else. The second group is recreational riders who dedicate a weekend of off-roading in search of the ultimate trail. Both groups ride WR250s.• Based on YZ technology, the WR250 has been modified to specifically meet the needs of off-road riders. With one of--t:he strongest engines in its class, the WR has a torquey, wide powerband that's exceptionally smooth and easy to con·trol. It uses a wide ratio transmission, with low first and second gears for tight sections, and wide ratio fifth and sixth gears for open terrain .• Since it's designed to withstand long, marathon events, the WR250 has a large air cleaner box capacity and oversize air filter to allow the engine to breathe more efficiently. It uses a beefy clutch and plates for longer life under extreme use. And it's equipped with a lighting coil so you can power accessories like enduro running lights or a Baja-style headlight.• There's other serious touches too, like front and rear disc brakes and a wrap-around chain guide for more reliability in rough terrain and deep ruts.• The WR250. It offers just as much performance to the serious recreational rider as it does to the serious racer. HICKSVILLE Long Island Yamaha 67N.
