HAGERSTOWN, MD, SEPT. 8
Larry Pegram was given the 750cc Expert win
when the first rain the area has seen in over four
weeks decided to hit the northern Maryland
. area just after the first final, the 250cc Pro-Am,
was run.
Scott Shinn took that win over Garth Bastian.
Rick Winsett's quicker heat win gave him the
600cc Pro-Am win over Jeff Randolph, while
Roger Durkee took the 600cc Expert class.
Scott Shinn started off the 2SO Pro-Am final
by leading Tim Eades and Garth Bastian. The
front trio quickly put some distance over the
Marco Morello, James McGivern and Robert
Weiss battle for fourth. On the third lap, Bastian
slipped past Eades for second coming off the
second tum. Bastian next set his sights on Shinn,
who kept his Honda in front, moving his Une
down a Uttle to keep Bastian from getting a good
run at him. At the flag. Shin won by a length.
During the winner's interview, it started to
sprinkle, and by the time the 600cc Experts
were lined up, it was a full~blown shower.
Roger Durkee battled Ben Bostrom for the heat
win that saw contender Georgie Price high-side
in the opening turn, breaking his collarbone.
The other heat began as a Todd Winsett runaway, but his half-a-straight lead evaporated
when he broke a chain coming off the final
tum, letting Bret Beyer by for the win. Winsett
crossed the line just in front of Kris Kiser and
Rob Majeski.
Rick Winsett Jr. had better luck than his
cousin Todd, as he held off a charging Garth
Bastian for the fastest 600cc Pro-Am heat win by
just six tenths of a second over Jeff Randolph's
runaway win over Marco Morello in the other
heat.
After playing around in their scratch heat,
Will Davis and Steve Morehead got down to
business in the qualifying heat, as Davis, riding.

BRADENTON, FL, SEPT. 10
Larry Brooks and Paul Currie won their respective classes at the Refuze 2 Luze $25,000 Privateer Wars held at County Line Raceway.
Brooks topped both 250cc pro motos while
Currie used a 2-1 tally to secure the 125ee pro win.
Finishing second overall on the day in both classes
was Performance Engineering pilot Jeff Curry.
Curry was the big money winner of the day as he
walked away with $5750 in purse money.
In the first 12Sec Pro mota Andrew DeSpain
jumped out to the early lead with Ronnie Renner,
Jim Chester, Jeff Curry and Kenny Yoho folJowing. By the end of the first lap Currie led Curry,
Chester, Yoho and Shaun PeroHo, in that order.
Five laps into the 3O-rninute-plus-tw<>-[ap mota,
Perolio charged by Yoho and Chester to run in
the third position. At the halfway mark, Jeff had
puJled out to an ll-second advantage over Paul
as Anthony Paggio passed Yoho for the fifth spot.
Curry would continue to add to his lead with
each passing lap and win the mota by 45 seconds
over Currie, Perolio, Chester and Paggio.
Just as the gate dropped to start the second
moto, rain began to fall. Fast starter Renner
again led the field into turn one with DeSpain,
PeroUo, Paggio and Chester giving cllase. Curry
and Currie crashed out of the gate and entered
the first turn in last place. Currie was the first to
remount with Curry back about five seconds.
DeSpain and Perolio quickly passed Renner to
battle for the point position. PeroHo hounded
DeSpain for three laps before making his way
by. By this time Currie had worked his way into
third and Curry into fifth with plenty of time left
in the moto. Currie closed in on PeroHo. a.nd
slipped by for the lead in the whoops as Curry
struggled to pass DeSpain and Paggio. With a
clear track ahead of him, Currie took full advantage and opened up a seven-second lead over
Perolio. Two laps later Curry forced his way by
DeSpain, Paggio and Perolio but found himself
down 10 seconds to Currie. With just a few laps
left in the ra~e, DeSpain crashed and Perolio
stalled letting Paggio move into third. Cur:rie
would .hold on for the win ahead of Curry, Paggio, PeroHo and a hard-charging Chester.

DAVENPORT, lA, SEPT. 1
A record 156 racers competed in J&P Promotions' seventh annual Half-Mile Antique Motorcycle Flat Track Races at the Mississippi Valley
