(Yam~ ~ TNT: , Stanley, Smith score Castle Rock TT wins By Clay Light CASTLE ROCK, WA- SEPT. 7 Dan Stanley's Expert-class r.ampage continued at the opening race of the Castle Rock National Speed Week where he logged yet another win in his record-breaking season. Stanley raced amazingly well, soundly beating Joe Kopp, the rider who stanels the best chance of winning the AMA 600cc National title, to sit the pole position for the Expert final. Heatrace wins went to Californian Paul Iwanaga, Stanley, and J.P. Simonsen. Stanley's Rotax blurred to the head of the pack at the start of the Expert main event. Kopp stayed moderately close, looming in Stanley's shadow throughout the 20-lapper, but was never really a serious threat. Things were closer in a third-place battle between Simonsen and teammates Russ Yamamoto and Lonnie Kopp until Yamamoto unloaded and handed Jeff Annen fifth in his demise. Simonsen finished third. Steve Smith, also a stellar performer, proved his Pro-Am prowess by pounding a talent-laden field which included multi-time class winners Randy Patterson and Bob Moran, who finished second and third. .
