and an Open class for any machine over 400cc. The event drew 106 riders, exceeding the turnout for the state championship of the previous day. Northrup, who won the 400cc exhibition on his Forward Motion Suzuki RM2SO, and Wheelwright, who won the Open Exhibition on his CR500 Honda, each received $300 for their efforts. In other actio", 1995 Senior Mini National Champion, Anthony DeHart, claimed the win in the Mini class with a 4.27-second ride on his Honda. Bill Myers, on his Suzuki, took second in 4.56 seconds with brother Dan claiming third on his Honda in 4.59 seconds. Jacob Bailey took his Honda over in 4.90 seconds for fourth, while Nathaniel Snyder rounded out the top five with a 5.54-second run on his Honda. Brent Stewart, with his 11th straight 0-17 250cc title sewn up, claimed the 2SOcc class win with a 3.71 second run on his Jackson/ Banzai Yamaha, but only by one-hundredth of a second over second-place rider Wheelwright on his YZ250. Chad Stark got a few bucks back by finishing third in 3.74 seconds on his Suzuki, with Jason Northrup turning in a 3.79 second run on his RM250 for fifth. Mel Piontek carded a 3.80 second run for fifth place. Mike Schobert turned an excellent 3.57 seconds on his super-fast Suzuki to win the Open class, but broke his mono-shock system on landing, taking him out of competition in the bigmoney class. Harry Denham took his incredibly fine Harley over in 3.94 seconds for second, with Tom Compton placing third in 3.73 seconds on his big Kawasaki. Jerrod Lindquist topped the hill in 3.75 seconds on his 1I7Occ Kawasaki for fourth, with Terry Bailey claiming fifth in 3.91 seconds on his Harley. Then the real fun started - the run for the big bucks. Stewart started the 400cc exhibition show with a super-fast 3.64-second first-round ride. and it looked like it might hold up. But late in the second round, Northrup put his Forward Motion RM250 high in the air over the top in a blistering 3.62 seconds to take the lead and the win, surviving a scare from Mel Piontek who sailed over in 3.63 seconds on his CR25O. Luke Haas also missed close, with a 3.65-second run on his YZ400. The top four riders were tucked into only a four-hundredths-second span. Twelve-year-old Jackie Mason finished fifth in 3.70 seconds on Andy Fortner's CR250. The Open Exhibition class was also a wac, with Marc Stamm and Wheelwright tying for first with incredible 3.43-second rides. Wheelwright won the tie breaker, taking the $300 first place, leaVing Stamm to pick up $125 for second. Haas turned in a good 3.53-second run for the third-place money. Lloyd Haas finished fourth in 3.56 seconds. The four top riders all rode Honda DR500s. Richard Fritz finished fifth in 3.57 seconds on his Yamaha twin, tied with Compton who also turned 3.57 on his 1300cc Kawasaki, but incurring a painful knee injury as he crashed a t the top.
