Marabini motors to win at· Suffolk Meadows Motocross By Jim and Carolyn Simpson Y APHANJ<, NY, SEPT. 10 Eric Maribini motored his way to the 125cc Novice overall win at Suffolk Meadows by claiming third place in the first moto and a win in the all-important second moto. Richard Agostinelli and Carlo Gagliardo kicked off moto one as the lead pair. Gagliardo quickly moved ahead to take lead and set the early-moto pace. Mike Carrieri then challenged and advanced into second, dropping Agostinelli to third. Maribini then made his move and trailed Carrieri as th.ey both chased after the leader, Gagliardo. A last-lap effort earned Carrieri the first-moto win with Gagliardo hanging on for second and Maribini following in third. At the start of moto two, Anthony Gangone snagged the early lead as Gagliardo and Maribini scrambled behind into the supercross section. Gagliardo was on the pipe through the jumps and made a pass stick for the lead as Maribini also advanced to second, dropping Gangone back into third place. Not content in second, Maribini then throttled ahead into the leaa as Gagliardo chased and Carrieri moved up into third, The front-running trio of Maribini, Gagliardo and Carrieri pulled away from the pack of 125s and continued to increase their lead. Carrieri then twisted the wick and jumped ahead to take over in the lead. The back sand bowl created an extra challenge for the leaders during the final lap. In the end it was Maribini motoring his way into the lead for the moto and the overall win. Gagliardo followed him to claim second place as Carrieri rounded out the top three. Re.ulte P/W: I.
