12Sec A moto, followed by the Yamaha of Erik
Leonard, and 1995 Amateur National Champion
Brock Sellards in third. By the completion of the
first lap, Sellards was by Leonard for second and
knocking on Collins' door for the lead. After a
furious battle lasting the rest of the race, Sellards
was fina'JIy able to take the win after Collins
m.ade a slight miscue. Leonard would finish
third, with Suzuki-mounted Jason Kloeppel in
fourth, and Dennis Robertson in fifth.
The second moto was all Sellards as he took
the holes hot, and after a brief skirmish with
Collins, would run off with the win. While running in second, Collins went down in a comer,
allowing Leonard to take over the second spot,
but Collins would remount and eventually steal
second back from Leonard. Kloeppel finished
fourth behind third-place Leonard. It was amazing that Collins was able to ride at all, as he was
on crutches the morning of the race and rode in
extreme pain.
The 250cc A class belonged to Sellards as
well, with the Team Green rider fighting off the
advances of Collins and Mike Morgan to take
both wins for the ov~rall. In other racing action,
Team Michigan took some wins, as Jeremy
Brown took the 80ce Senior class, and another
Team Green rider, Nicholas Wey, captured the
125cc Band Schoolboy divisions.
