causing Berganlz to go down. Nason easily took
the first-moto win. Carter finished a distant second ahead of Clenard. Berganlz recovered for
fourth ahead of Brian Burson.
The second-moto holeshot belonged to
Carter with Berganlz and Nason in tow. By the
completion of the first lap, Berganlz and Nason
were back out front arguing over the lead. Oenard had moved up to third ahead of Carter.
for the entire race the two front-running
Kawasaki riders were never more than a few
feet apart as they negotiated the jump-filled
sand track. Berganlz ended up winning the battle by holding off ason all the way to the
checkers, but Nason won the war, and the firstplace trophy, by virtue of his 1-2 score. Berganlz
still went home with the second-place trophy,
topping the 3-3 rides of Oenard.
Chris Elliott topped the SOcc Beginner class
with a perfect 1-1 score aboard a new YZSO after
gettin'g around fast starter Sean Collier in mota
one then holding off Collier for a hard-fought
second-moto win. Andrew Turner went 4-3 for
third overall.
Bryce Johnson was untouchable in the first
Vet Beginner moto. John Chapman made a lastlap pass on Bill McVay to take second. Johnson
was hammered throughout the second round by
McVay, but came out on top of a dramatic last
lap to secure the overall win. McVay had to settle for second in the mom and final standings.
