Watercraft Vests much air and 1 dialed it on right to the top. 1 held it on a little past the lights. Scared the shit out of myself!# The big 800cc class got started with Wallace Fowler drawn for first ride. Hailing from Charleston, West Virginia, Fowler put the high-revving Suzuki over the top in a 3.7976-second frenzy, getting a crossed-up, airy launch over the jump. Fowlers' second-round ride improved to a 3.3823 sizzler which was fast enough for fourth place at the end of the day. Jimmy Dingee, still tasting the victory at Avoca, New York, earlier this year, wanted badly to taste it again. With a vengeance, Dingee flew up the lronhorsemen's hill, clocking a 3.3567-second screamer. Returning in round two, Dingee pushed himself and his monster nitro burner to the limit. Launching hard, the resulting aerial had a price, as the impact upon landing bent the front end. The damage was not noticed until his pit crew greeted him at the trailer. Dingee's second ride of 3.5723 came up short, forcing him to rely on his first run. The smiling native West Virginian was glad to get third place and said, "We got a good holeshot, (but) it was too good. Anywhere else [ would have been fine. Just too much air. Oh, well." Points leader Steve Dresser squeezed off a crossed-up run with a resulting 3.6537-second, first-round run. The New Yorker returned intent on turning up the heat, knowing that Petty had put a last time if'.. Dresser put his big Pro USA Team Harley-Davidson on the hill, and with a crackle produced.a nearly perfect 3.3063-second run. NearLy perfect, but not fast enough to catch Glenda! Petty Jr. "All I'm doing is corning out and riding my own race," said Dresser of his points battle with Gerencer. "I can't really let Lou put any pressure on me because then, you know, you psychologically beat yourself. So, basicalJy, I'm enjoying it and riding my own ride and then Lou's the one that's got to play catch-up." Gerencer put two solid rides together: a fast 3.4545 and a slower 3.6581. The native Indianan Simply said, "That's racing," and smiled about his sixth-place finish on the day. Glendal Petty Jr. ripped one ride through with a time of 3.3061. Gleefully, Petty had little to say other than preparation was the key for his team today. "We had to change the clutch. We reset the timing. We changed the gearing on the bike to gear for the hill .(We went) pretty low - not to give anything away." 0 lronhorsemen Motorcycle Club IIIJII from ~2 ~ . ~k •, ·'-ifly·t'" .'t"- .-t'.. .... .. • • • #& Gra';d Sport Tires ~tie :~teJ '90 booth # booth # 54 34 FMF Gold Seri_ Pi slightly ~ml.hed booth # 4& -- C!V ~~'i- (§) Mill STREET :;:; !!l r'" Mill STREET EXIT ~ lIIlIIIIIO C!!J C!V ..l..
