Boyd and Felix. Burns took a tight line at the
next comer and led Harris to the first of Cydeland's huge doubles. As the leaders completed
the first lap, Harris pulled alongside of Burns
through the whoops and was attempting to
make a pass on the outside of a sweeping turn
when Burns lost the front end and crashed leaving Harris alone in front. Burns quickly remounted, but he had now dropped back to
sixth. Up front, Harris was on the gas and put
nearly a second a lap on the field building a 10second cushion by the time the checkers waved.
Following Harris across the line was Schwatka,
Burns, who made an amazing charge through
the field, Felix, and Suzuki-mounted Jacob
Stepp, in fifth.
Results
All 20 class chemplons were crowned after
the fifth end tlnel round of the Vemehe
Oealers MX Series at Glen Helen Receway.
Jacob Dombrosky produced a four-moto
sweep, invading the A-class ranks each time on
his way to victories in both 125 and 2SOcc B.
In 12Scc B, Dombrosky's major competitors
were Andy Caldwell and Chad Leigh. Leigh is
returning to motocross alter a'couple of years
off, but has lost none of his former speed. Chad
traded runner-up spots with Andy, for second
overall to Caldwell's third.

Marion masterful at
Glen Helen Motocross

SAN BERNARDINO, CA, JULY 23
Marshall Marion took the overall win in the
Senior Expert/lotermediate class at the fifth and
fin'l1 round of the Yamaha Dealer Series at Glen
Helen Raceway.
Over 300 riders participated in the finals to
determine over 20 different class champions,
and also which Southern California Yamaha
Dealer would be taking the coveted "Dealer's
Cup" back to its shop.
Dennis Boulware timed the gate perfectly at
the start of the first Senior Expert/Intermediate
moto and pulled to a five-bike advantage by the
second comer over W.G. Wilson, who was followed by Bill Kruger and Marion. Boulware
increased his lead to about six seconds as it took
Marion a few laps to get around Wilson. Boul·
ware was having his way until midway, when
he laid down his bike in the corner in front of
the bleachers, handing the lead over to Marion.
That was all the luck that Marion needed as he
took the moto win, with Boulware taking second
and Wilson third.
Boulware pulled the holeshot again in the second moto, but this time Marion was right
behind in second. Marion, with better speed and
rhythm, made his move in the "whoop section,"
and took the top spot over from Boulware. From
there it was Boulware playing catch-up on the
rest of the course, only to see the Montclair
Yamaha-sponsored Marion pull ahead each time
they went through the whoops. Marion took the
moto and overall win at the checkered, followed
by Boulware, Wilson and Monte Lee.

Harris styles at Cycleland SX

(n only her fourth race since turning Pro, 14year-old Nikki Harris stole the show at round 15
of the Cydeland SIlllUruir High Point Series.
Harris started the night by grabbing the
holeshot and leading the pack into turn one
dosely pursued by series points leader Aaron
Bums, while Todd Boyd: Zack Schwatka and
Ca>ey Ross gave chase. Harris and Burns soon
started to separate themselves from the pack,
which had some exciting battIes going on.
Schwatka moved past.Boyd to take over third as
Yamaha-mounted Richard Felix had worked up
from a mid pack start to pass Ross for fifth. A
couple of laps later, both Felix and Ross had
found their way around Boyd, bumping him
back to sixth.
With two laps remaining, Harris and Bums
had nearly a half-lap lead on third when Harris
gave a little wave to the crowd over the finishline tabletop and coasted off the track heading to
the pits. BehiJid her, Burns also slowed and followed Harris toward the pits when suddenly he
realized he hadn't seen any flags and took off.
Realizing what she had done, Harris re-entered
the track and gave chase but she was now nearly
a full straight behind. Harris dosed rapidly but
at the checkers it was Burns dosely foliowed by
Harris, Schwatka, Felix and Ross.
As the gate dropped for the main event, it
was Burns and Harris side by side as they
rounded the first turn and headed for the
whoops followed by Jordan White, Schwatka,

Wickham wow's 'em
at Starwest Supercross

Round four of the Shoei Helmet/Oakley Goggle
Giveaway Series saw a repeat of last week's
125cc Beginner-class results, as Richard Wickham extended his winning streak by taking vic·
tories in both motos.
All but running away from the competition
in the first moto, Wickham fended off a late
moto charge by Justin Gutierrez, who dosed on
the leader on the last lap but was unable to pass.
Brian Meirowskl followed. Gutierrez across the
finish line.
Wickham grabbed his second holeshot off
the line of moto two, leading the pack through
the double-horseshoe with Meirowsky, Eric
Hancock and Harvey Bradley hot on his trail.
Gut.ierrez was working his way through the
pack and passed Hutchison and Bradley in the
air as he cleared the tabletop on the back
straightaway. Gutierrez then stuffed Hancock in
the switchback. but ran into problems while
attempting to pass Meirowsky, washing out in
the comer. He was quickly up, losing only two
positions to Bradley and Hutchison but regaining them shortly after.
Wickham, in the lead, was challenged by
Meirowsky, but every time Meirowsky made a
charge for the lead Wickham imply turned up
the afterburners and left him behind. Meirowsky
made a valiant last-lap charge, but it was to no
avail as Wickham jumped the big triple and took
the checkered flag yards in front of his nearest
challenger.
Gutierrez was a lonely third, and rounding
out the top five were Bradley and Mead, respectively. When the overall results were posted it
was Wickham in first, and Meirowsky edging
out Gutierrez for second.

Lowell Moural Jr. put in a stunning performance
by winning the 12Scc main event after crashing
early in the race and being forced to start his
charge dead last at round II of Cydeland's
Summer Supercross Series.
As the gate dropped on the 125cc main,
Moural and Scott Davis were side-by-side down
the start straight, neither rider budging as they
rounded the first turn that led into the whoop
