win" had been lost when the ma ter link on his chain let go on the lasl lap due 10 a bent chain guide. "This is the second year in a row that this exact thing has happened to me at this race," said Fay. "This race is in my own backyard, and I think it's a bad omen for me." A surprised Abney found himsell in the lead with less than one lap left in the race. "Coming down the hill out of the pits I saw Dave walking up," said Abney, "but I didn'l realize who it was until I saw the bike in the sand wash later." Abney crossed the line a minute and a half ahead of second-place rider Jules Fa rmer. The win, along with the misfortunes of Chris Dennison, allowed Abney to clinch the season points championship in the N.M.D.R.C. series with only one race remaining. After years onryins, Abney will carry the number-one plate in 1996. Back in the Fay camp the mood was more somber. Perhaps Mike Arnold Sr., a member of Fay's pit crew, said it best: "To lead for so long and to know that you have the win is grcut. But to lose it on the last lap with such a bizarre incident is disheartening." Dodds hot at MXMC Scott Summers has dominated the 1995 season with championship form and results. Off-road racing is extremely demanding of both men and machines, that's why Scott uses only Silkolene lubricants in his Fred Brambett-tuned Factory Honda XR. Using its substential R&D resources and incorporating aerospace technology that has resulted in World, European, British and now U.S.A. Championships, Silkol.ene has developed a full line of high-quality perfonnance lubricants specifically for your motorcycle. By Kyle Myers Silkalene's the only choice far those who wlnt to set the pice Ind win the race. REDDICK, F1., JULY J() Jason Dodds took the money and ran as he captured the Open Money and 12S-A class al round 16 of the Florida Motocross Series, held at Motocross of Marion County. In the first Open Money mota, Dodds rocketed out of the gate and lead the field into tum one with Kenny Jones, Anthony Paggio, Mike Amedeo and Brandon Cunningham following. Dodds, Jones and Paggio broke away from the pack 10 battle for the point position. Paggio stayed on Jones' rear wheel, but couldn'l find a way around him. With Jones holding off Paggio, Dodds increased his lead with each lap and held on for the wire-to--wire win, some five seconds ahead of Jones and Paggio. Amedeo and Cunningham rounded out the top five, respectively Dodds once again blasted his YZ 360cc to the front of the field to stut moto two, with Paggio, Amedeo, Jones and Cunningham giving chase. Paggio quickly passed Dodds in the whoops on the opening lap, "'king over the lead. Paggio led for two I.,ps until he bobbled in Ihe whoops, allowing Dodds to retake the lead. Paggio rode in Dodds' wheel tracks for the entire nine laps, but couldn'l get by. Meanwhile, Jones chased Amedee for a couple of laps before slipping by in a climer. Jones then fell, and Amedeo raced back into third position. Dodds held off the attack of Paggio to score the win, and Paggio finished in second place while Amedeo scored third. Dodds later returned 10 sweep both motos in the.125cc-A class. Dodds ran away with both races, leaving Cuy Sacchetti and Joe DeCosta to fight for second. DeCos'" finished in the number-two position in moto one, but in the second outing it was Sacchetti with the second-place M~.
