That apparently was all Knight needed to light his fire as he picked it up a notch, blew by Mitchell and pulled away for a convindng molo and overall win. . Continuing the season~long tractition, the Pee Wee B dass saw yet another battle between Cole Boutwell and Cory Carlson. In the heat race, Carlson nabbed the holeshot with Boutwell soon crashing and causing a huge pilf!up. Boutwell remounted and began a charge that would take him up to third place as Carlson rode a smooth race to take the win. In the main, Boutwell took the holeshot and never looked back, pulling away to an impressive win over Carlson. Jamie Lewi stayed on the gas aU moto long and charged his way to a weU-deserved third-place finish. Peters commands 04 trial By John Knapp and Don Allis ELMIRA, NY, JULY 15 Fantie-mounted Ray Peters continues winning at the District 4 Trials game. Peters bested runnerup Fantic rider Mike Komer with a score of five points to Komer's 32 during a record-setting heat wave. Peters took command in the rocky, uphill section one, where he only dropped four of his five points to Komer's seven. In the Advanced class, Scarpa-mounted Jonah Leon bested Montesa rider David A. Reed by only two points. The Advanced-dass riders primarily rode' the Expert sections, with the exception of the tough section one. Noah Leon piloted his Aprilia to the win over Yamaha-mounted Dave Knapp in the lntermediate class with a score of 13 points to Knapp's 30. ' In the Senior A Class, Aprilia rider Lavern Bowen took top honors, beating Montesa rider Charlie Camin by only seven points. Another Aprilia rider, John Pileski, took 27 points for his win in the Senior B Class, while Doc Kavanagh dropped 35 points to place first in the Super Senior Gass. Results EX; 1. CAlRO,GA,jULY9 The dynamic, dicing duo of Geve Roberts and Fortson Rumble were at it again with Roberts coming out the victor in the 250 C dass at south Georgia's Hog Pen Motocross. Roberts recently took delivery of a new Honda 01 Troy CR250, and it appeared to suit him well as he spent moto one studying the lines of first-place finisher Rumble. Moto two saw Roberts put the hammer down for a soUd moto win abead of Jamie Joiner, with Rumble lurking in third. Mota-one front-runner Brent Dean took a hard faU over the new extra-long tabletop, but luckily was able to leave the scene under his own power. The beginner classes had a pair 01 quick learners as Jeff Rodgers dished out a doublemoto sweep in the 125cc class and Cory Miles did likewise in the 250cc class. The 125cc Unlimited class saw a new competitor as Bay Honda/Pro Circuit/Parts Unlim- ited-supported Kevin Knight parked his more familiar CR250 and dimbed aboard a CR125. Knight showed the crowd he can go fast on any size bike as he came through the pack in both motes to notch a double-mota sweep over Nick Morris and Bryan Sapp. Results 125 U/L: I.
