Doug N icol made up the rest of the field . Chism,
from the 20-yard-lin e, led the field for one lap
before Black , also from the 20, too k over a nd
looked like he might pull it off as he led for 11
laps. On the 13th lap , though , McConne ll took
over the lead with Oxley right beh ind him, and
Faria in thi rd . It was a t thi s point the red flag
came out when Black crashed.
On th e rest art , the riders were lin ed up by
twos, which pu t McCon nell a nd Ox ley side by
side on the front row an d Faria and Venegas on
the sec ond row. Oxley too k ov er the lead with
McConnell, Fari a and Ven egas second , third and
fo urth , respectively. Lucero, who had been in
the thick of things, started falling back as fatigue
set in . On the 19th lap, McConnell got into trouble and this moved Faria int o second. Venegas
ha d so m ething to say a bo u t that as he ca me
ro ar ing back and mad e a m ove on Faria th at
ga ve him seco nd . The finish was close but the
win wa s Oxley's with Ven egas second and Faria
third . Estes did a good job of hold ing Ackroyd
a t bay for fourth.
Th e Support riders had a 12-lap ma in and
they moved up the program the same way as the
division one riders. Qualifying for this side of the
p rogram were Jeremy Ad en, Randy Ski n ne r,
David Taylor, Richard Jones, Mike Dalbey , Bobby
Cam pbell, Joe Erhard t and Jake Zemke. After a
res tart, David Taylor took the lead with Erhardt
an d Skinner in second and thir d. Tayl or hung on
for four laps befor e Erhardt found th e hole he
was looking for and took over. Dalbey also got by
but Skinner mad e short work of tha t and moved
him back to third. With four laps left the order
remained un chan ged . Erhard t took the win with
Sjinner and Dalbey in the place, show spots.

Kellogg's great at Greeley SX

E & M Enterprise hosted rou nd tw o of SRAC's
Su pe rcross Series at the newly rev amped Island
Gro ve Park Stadium, a nd it was Jos h Kellogg
w ho ca ptu red the premier 250cc main event win
in flawless fashion. Paul Lindsey might not have
go tten the sta rt he wanted but still cas he out
d
w ith a second place finish .
The 250cc class wa s jammed with talent, as
Bryan Cu rtis emerged first off the line, while
San dell pressured, then grabbed the lead, as Kellogg d ro ppe d into second, with Ha ns e n third
and Atkins fourth. Curtis slipped to fifth with
Lindsey, Owens and Balliet chasing.

Ke llogg followed Sa ndell for awhile th en
powered to the lead. Atkins pushed by Hansen
fo r th ird . Gary Sailors and Morgan raced
through the ba ck of the pack for eighth and
ninth. Swink a nd 8alliet cra shed ha rd in th e
whoops. Atkins stalled go ing for a pass, and
Sandell, Lindsey and Owens all went off th e
track. Lindsey mad e the most of the mishap and
passed ev eryone up to second, while Sandell
took third back from Atkins, wh o was fou rth.
Curtis was now fifth and Morgan sixth; Hansen .
seventh, and Sailers eighth.
Kell ogg withst ood the p ressure for a big
vic tory.
In the 12Scc Pro main, Shawn Morgan took
the lead with Andy Atkins , Kell o gg , Trent
Hanse n, Jeremy Hinrichs a nd Texan Tre y
Owens in pursuit . Atkins slip ped pa st Mor gan
for firsL Hi nrich s passed Hansen for fifth but
Ha nse n repassed. Owens sta rted to loosen up
an d we n t by Kell og g for third. Lin dsey a n d
Robertson pressured Han sen for fifth wh en Hinric h cr ashes . Lindsey worked by H ansen fo r
fifth, a nd at th e halfwa y p oint, Mo rgan had
reclaim ed first.
When it was all ov er Morgan sa iled across
th e fin is h lin e go ing away a hea d of Atkins,
Owens , Kellog and Lindsey.

Echeconnee Motocross

MX Series br ought we ll over 300 e n tra n ts to
Echeconnee MX whe re Jeff Giese came away a
double-class w inner with flawless scores in th e
125cc B and Unl imi ted Ama teur divisions. Shae
Bentle y was perfect in Seni or Mini an d Youth
action while Dw ayne Bone won both of the A
clas ses over Danny Haynes.

th e Se ri es point total s throu ghou t t he day.
Wom en 's d ivision se ries winner April Thom ason a lso topped the 80cc Beginn er class by a narrow six- point margi n over Robe r t Cha mbers.
Dash Lyle claimed the series honors in bo th the
60cc and Junior Mini con tests whil e Glenn Bates
earned th e 25+ B and 30+ titles. Joshua Moritz
nailed down a r12-moto winning strea k to take
the Pee Wee (4-6 ) crown with a per fect 3OQ..point
score.
The closest points race wa s in the 35+ d ivision wh ere Kevin Brule came ou t on top just two
po ints ahead of Kevin Matthews, who won the
d ay' s contest via 3- 1 fin ishes over Brule's 2-2
tally .

The ear ly moments of the firs t 125cc Beginner mota saw Trey Powell a nd Ze ni th Deu ley
swap the lead back and forth. Deu ley later ran
into problems, finish ing 23rd whi le Powell took
the win. Powell returned to lead mota two from
sta rt to finish , clinching the overall for the day
and for the Series cham pio nship. Deuley was the
Series ru nn er-up.
The 250cc C con test was a thrill er as Bobby
Richards showed th e way both times o nly to
crash back to m id -p a ck finish es while Jo hn
Watkins held on for the overall via his 2-1 score .
Series runner-up Jeff KiIIian came from far back
in th e pack bo th tim es to fin ish 3-2 for second
overall. Mark Butl er was th e Seri es champion
and posted l-ii for the da y, netting third overall.
