J. n'Il."S N.1!loh (110). o--n- Team Suzuki Spring Series at Pleasure Valley Motocross By Julie Kramer JOHNSTOWN, PA.APR. 30 Mark Liti captu red the overall after tw o hard fought motos in the 12See B class in round two of the District five Team Suzuki Spring Ser ies held at Pleasure Valley Raceway. Mota one began with Chad Oppy, on a 125 fo r th e fi rs t t im e in tw o yea rs , ta kin g th e holesho l. Followin g the qu ick Oppy off the line was Uti, secu re in secon d place for the w ho le mo ta, but with no real chance of catch ing Oppy. The battl es in this mota were for the th ird a nd fou rth positi ons. Doug Stofko, running thir d off the ga te, was being p ressu red by James Fry and Eric Pa ri s. Fou rt h-p laced Fry was passed b y Paris on the straighta wa y, then Paris also passed thi rd -placed Stofko thr ough the next turn. Fry, now d isp laced to fifth, was able to ge t past Stofko on his wa y into the bowl tum, and then back a round Paris going over the following tabletop, moving into third . During the next lap, Stofko crashed going over the whoops. and allowed Brad Astalos to slid e into the top five. Running a secu red th ird , Fry crashed ove r the s l ic k fini s h-line ju mp , b ut was bac k u p qu ickly a nd able to catch and pass Paris over the tunnel ju mp. Jus tin Paris, who had been working h is way through the pack from a bad start, moved in on Astalos ove r the table top. On the wh ite-flag lap, Oppy had pulled an I f-seco nd lead over Liti, Fry had th ird secured, Eric Paris crashed down at the bottom of the track, and coming back up the hill was Astalos in fourth instead of Justin Paris. . Mota two found Liti first out of the gat e but afte r a crash in the first tum the race had to be red -nagged beca use of the rid er's need for medical atten tion. On the restart , Uti on his Suzuki was again out front, and that 's where he stayed for the enti re moto, never looking back. Fry was in se-cnnd , being hounded by Eddi e Karba n and Astolo s, with Jason Pahandish ro u ndi ng out the top five. As lap tw o began, Astolos cased a set of doubl es that claimed man y riders throu gh out the d a y, lea vin g fo u rth to Pahandis h, and allowing Oppy to move into the top five. Riders were dropping like flies and on lap three Oppy had moved into third place and was p ress uring Karban. Before he coul d mak e the pass , he also crashed , leaving third to Mike Bobroski, followed by Astalos and Pahandi sh.
