As the front-runners entered the supercross section, Bisbee wa s closely followed by Coone and Marshall Gross. James Bove made the pass stick and moved into third as Bisbee led Coo ne into the lower back section of the track. Coone wasted no time and passed Bisbee in the sand to take the lead while Bove hun g-on in thir d . The race pace hea ted -up as Coa ne twis ted the wick to increase his lead and the battlegro und for second place began to form . When Coane took the wh ite flag he wa s on cru ise control all alone in the lead . Second place sta rte d wi th Bisbee and Bov e ba ttl in g behind the leader as they dropped down out of sight into the back. Coane scored the mot a win but at the checkers it was Bove taking second with john Graham following for third . The former second- p lace contender Bisbee rem ounted after a fall to finish in fourth. Dav id Goldstien powered in to the lead to kick off mot a two . Bove and Coane trailed Gold stien through the narrow straight after tum one. As the leaders en tere d the ess turn Sov e lost momentum, Jetting Coane slip by and cha se down the leader Goldstien. Coane then jumped ahead into the lead as Goldstien gave cha se in the sandy back section . Bove seized the oppo rtu nity and passed Goldstien for second. As Coa tie stay ed on the pipe. increasing his lead . Go ldstien regained second when Bove miscued in the sand. Three-time Grand Champion David White claimed the overall win during round three of the Virginia Championship Hare Scrambles Series at the Dilwyn Hare Scramble. White, who sta rted one minute behind the AA class, passed every one and took the lead by the end of the first lap and set out to reclaim the title he had held for three years when the series first started. White had passed two riders in his class and th ree riders in the AA clas s by th e en d of the firs t la p . St ickin g close to White was DanieJ Morrison, but not close enough to steal the lead. A close battle was brewing in the 250/5OOcc A cl ass b e t w e e n Tommy Handy, Timmy Mitchell, and Ro b bie Dee!. Handy got the holesho t and m ain ta in ed the lea d . Deel and Mitchell kept switching positions and it paid off for Mitchell , who claimed second place, leaving Deel for third. Moving up from the G-J OOcc to the G-200cc B class this year, Brian Bouma put on a good show. During th e previous tw o races this season , Bouma has finished first , but Chris Baggett
