Mi ch.lt~l Lynn hotat Dade City MX By Kyle Myers DADE CITY. FL, APR. 16 Dustin Lynn posted a I-I tally to win the 60cc class during round four of the Florida Motocross Series at Dade City Raceway. In the first 60cc mot o, Barrett Smith grabbed the ea rly lead with Brad Bernier, Cody Roth, Marisa Hampshire and Ph illip lves followi ng . Lynn got stuck in the gate and entered the first tu rn in sixth . Smith then bobbl ed entering the sand portion of the cou rse, and Berni er and Roth motored by. Lynn also moved by Smith, to ru n in the third spot on the first lap. Lyn n then mo ved by Roth an d Bernier to take over the lead. Meanwh ile, still back at the gate was Kyle William son, who gave all eight riders a half-lap lead befo re taking off. Lynn contin ued to lead, while Williamson worked his way th ro ugh t he fie ld . Withi n fo u r laps Williamson was in third and hou nding Bernier fo r second w hi le Lynn built up a lea d . Williamson flew by Berni er to take over second , but Lynn was gone. Lynn held on for' the moto win over Williamson, Bernier, Roth and Smith. Moto two saw Bernier rip the holeshot ahead o f Smith. Lynn. Hampshire a nd Roth . Lynn quickly mov ed h is HSKS-backed Kawasak i by Smith and Bernier to set the pa ce. On ce again Williamson started hal f a lap d own . At the halfway point Williamson was in third and was looking for it way around Bernier before falling in th e back sand sect ion. Williamson quickl y remounted and charg ed by Bern ier after a lap, with the white flag out, but Lynn had too big of a lead for Williamson to overcome. Lynn scored the w in ove r Wi lliam son . The Alabaman Machen 'overcame challenges from Flor ida an d Mississip pi riders to notch a tw o-mo to sweep, pilo ting h is Yama ha to th e head of th e class. Machen took the first moto holeshot and never looked back, as he stead ily pulled away from th e ,rest of the pack . Jam es Stephens, rid ing a 60, may have given up some horsepo wer to the bigger, faster 80s, but he more than mad e up for it with ability as he jamm ed h is KX60 into second place. Tyler Cotto n made up for missing the start by reeling in all bu t the first three racers, finishin g a very close fourth to Joshua Guidry's screaming yellow Suzuki. Mota two was a carbon copy for Machen as he again disappeared from the rest of the pack, but tha t is w here the simila rity to mota one ended . Burch hammers Experts at Dry Valley Cross Country By Darryl Smith M ONTAGUE. TX, APR, 9 For the first time in years it didn' t rai n at the Dry Valley cross. coun try near Montague, but Cal Burch reigned over the Op en Exper ts. Burch and his KTM 300 took top honors at round four of the Texas Cross Country Racing series. Ray Jennings put his CR500 out front first ahead of Todd Tarver, Jim McQ uea ry . and Burch. Jennings held the lead for two laps on the fast, 12-mile cou rse. Burch, though, was on the move, passing McQueary on lap one an d jam ming to the front on lap three. Early sp ring heat left man y riders fading as the race progressed, but Burch kept his pace until the end, Bu rch's margin of victory was two minutes over runn erup Tarver and third place Jennings.
