broke the Italian domination of the class
with a runaway win in th e first moto of
the Spanish round at Bell puig an d a
solid fifth in race two.
The 31 points he earned m oved Maschio to third in the championship behind
seri es favorites Alessio Chiod i and
Alessandro Pu zar, who each rode two
consistent, rather than spectacular races,
to consolidate their po sitions in the seri~
point standings. Pu zar was sti ll riding in
great pain after dislocating two vertebrae
in his back during practice at the previou s week's Italian seri es opener.
Old hand Dave Strijbos also showed
