According to the Orange County Register, the Anaheim, California-based company listed less than $500,000 in assets, wit h liabiliti es ran ging from $1 million to $9,999,000 in a petition signe d by com pa ny president Danny Thompson. MTEG also promotes four rounds of the Ll.S, Supercross Series, two of which have alre ady been held in Anaheim and San Diego, California, and according to Roy Janson, executive d irector of Am erican Internat ional Racing, the two remaining, originally scheduled MTEG-produced supercross events in Denver, Colorado, on June 3, and the season final in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Jun e 10, will go on as planned. "On behalf of all the companies (Pace /Supersports, SRO Motorsports and MTEG), we fully anticipate that the 1995 U.S. Supercross Series will not be interrupted," said Janson. Just before this issue went to press, we spoke with Thompson, son of series founder Mickey Thompson, who said, "In the present situation, and in the best interest of the sport and industry, we (MTEG) are going to turn the Denver and Las Vegas events over to Pace /Supersports and SRO Motorsports. That way we can be assured those events will come off as good as poss ible." As far as MTEG' s future? "I really, don't know yet," said Thompson. "We're just going to wait and see what happens." Thompson attributes much of the company's problems to some of the natural disasters that happened in the Southern California area, such as the earthquake in 1994, rainstorms in '95, and even the Los Angeles riots in '92. A The North American Super Bike S e ri e s has a n n o u nced that th e n e w road racing organiza tion will be establishing a membership option for race fans . "We know tha t fans ar e the mo st vital part of professional sports and we wanted to come up with a wa y to establish some direct communication with them," NASB marketing d irector Pat Murphy said. "Our members will get newsletters throughout the season with u p -t o-th e-min u te race inforrna tio n , behin d the scenes reports and special discount offers on ' race tickets and other me rchandise. The AMA Pro Dirt Track tire rule (specifying Goodyear CD-8 re ins and CD-5 fronts) will be enforced in the 600cc and 250cc Pro-Am classes at the Vintage D i rt T r ack Ra cers Association (VDTRA) mile di rt track at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana, on May 6. Lewis piloted a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, besting runner-up M arc Peters, who was also Monte Carlo equipped . Jere my M cGra th was th ird in a Chevrolet Camaro. By a 13-6 vote, the Senate Commerce, · Science and Transportation Committee passed the Pr oduct Liability Fairnes s Act on April 6, accord ing to the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC). The bill, desig nated .S.565, would establish uniform Federal product liab ility law nationwide. S.565 now goes to the full Senate for amendmen ts and a vo te, expected shortly after the Easter recess which ends on April 24. At least 60 votes are needed to s top a filib u s ter threatened by 5.565 opponents. G MD Com p u track has announced a contingency program for the Championship Cup Series (CCS). Guild was two-time Grand National Champion Gary Nixo n 's tuner during his championshipwi nning 1967-68 seasons. Guild is survived by his wife , Darla, and two sons, Clifford Jr. and Jimmy. A "Harley Legends" exhibit will open at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California, on May 20. Celebrating more than 90 years of HarleyDavidson's motorcycle history, the exhibit will feature a ra re collection of vintage, new and custom Harleys from collectors around the world.
