The runner-u p on the d ay was Du tchman Pedro Tragte r (Suz) after going 4-4, while American Tallon Vohland (Kaw) finish ed third overall via 2-8 moto finish es. Voh land is curren tly seco nd in the series point stand ings, 11 poin ts beh ind Everts. Belgian Werner Dewit (Suz) and fellow cou ntry ma n Peter Iven (Kaw) rounded out the top five overall. At t he seco nd rou nd of th e World C ha mpions hip 125cc MX Se r ies in Bell pu ig, Spa in, on Ap ril 9, Italian Mikael Maschio (Hon ) scored the overall wi n after finishing 1-5 on the day. Second overall we nt to Holland's Da vey Stri jbos (Suz) who rode to 4-2 mo to finis hes . Roundi ng out the top five ove rall were Alessandro Puzar (Ho n), Alessio Ch i o di (Yam) and Mauro Dal'Lago (Ho n). Scott Summers (Ho n) was the overall w inner at the com bined Nationa l Hare Scra mbles and Grand Na tion al Cross Coun tr y Series r ou nd a t th e Lo retta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, on April 9. Summers broke free of Guy Cooper (Suz) in the lat e stages of th e race to score th e win. Cooper held on to second, while To m Norton (Yam) finishe d a distant third. Fourth went to th e d efend ing GNCC cha mp Scott Plessinger (KTM), while defe nding H a re Scrambles champ Rodney Smith ende d up fifth. Steve Hatch finished sixth. Four-time N a tion al Ha r e & Hou nd Champ ion Danny Hamel (Kaw) pos ted the overall win at the Jericho Na tional in Jericho, Utah, on April 8. Hamel finis hed ahea d of teammate Ty Davis, wh ile Greg Zitterkopf (KTM), Donnie Book (Ka w) a nd Todd Hoy (KTM) completed the top five overall. Finn Tommi Ahvala gave the new Fantic Se ction a winning deb uf at the Worl d C hampi onsh ip Trial s se ries opener, held April 8-9 in Warken , Luxem bo urg. The 1992 World Ch ampion topped Spaniards Marc Colomer (Mon) a nd six-time World Champion Jo rd i Tarres (G- G ). Fr enchman Bruno Camozzi (Bet) and Brit Dougie Lampkin (Bet) rounded out the top five. The round of the 500cc World Championship MX Series sched uled for July 9 a t Hawks tone Park in En gland ha s been replaced by a round in Bielstein, Germany, on the sam e date. Former road racer and cu rrent ad vertising sales man ager for American Roadracing magaz ine, Andy Leisner, underwent hip rep lacement s u rgery in Phoenix, Arizona, on Monday, April 10. Leisner shattered his hip wh en he crashed after a hose clamp broke on his Aprilia's cooling sy stem at Daytona I-< Interna tional Speedway in 1990, 0.. prompting his retirement from racing.
