Entries exceeded over 300 as racers made tracks
to the Houston Astrodome from all across Texas.
in addition to Lou isiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma,
New Mexico, Mississippi, Alabama , Kansas, and
Mexico, to compete in an ear ly morning Amateur
Supercross even t on Saturday.
But it wa s indeed a Te xa n, Travis Elliott,
wh o made his mar k on the even t afte r claimi ng
the 8Sec a nd 12Sec Youth (12-15) classes , win n ing th e hea ts and main events in.both. "It's
pre tty neat to be in the 125cc class," sa id Elliott.

feel good."

event, with Ryan Petty rid ing a consisten t second and Co le Brown in third.
Elliott hoJeshot and won the heat race of the
125cc Youth (l2-15) class with Nicholas Ham ilton in the second pos ition a nd No e Alan is, of
Mexico, in third . The ma in event sa w both Elliott
and Ham ilton share the holeshot, wit h Hamilton
edging out the minibike rid er out of the first tu m
and ta kin g th e lead . Ellio tt, pushed bac k to
fourt h, found his way .into third halfway through
the first lap and then flew into the num ber-two
spot past Roger Thayer in the second race to run
side by side with Hamilton on lap two. Elliott
was look ing for the right line when he squared
off in the comer in the north -side sweeper and
continued to hammer down on Hami lton do wn
the north wall and into the Scott Rockers, where
he ju m ped past Hamilton and into first. Kent
La wl e r fin ished fo u rt h, with Bran d on Jones
putting in a fine performa nce in fifth.
