These two bikes were not within those specs. The protrusion was off spec so that instantly disqualified the m. The original idea of publishing this spec was to avoid jus t such circu mstances. We'd found on numerous occasions in th e past that people had gotten disqualified over not knowing a spec and publishing th is spec allows someone's who's brave to build a . bike to that spec . We made it easy for them w ith the help of Harley-Davidson who provided a tool, and they fabrica ted a .checking device, which is nothing ve ry h igh tec h - si mply a ba r bo lted across the cylinder with a dial indicator and the piston is ru n up to its maximum and checked wi th th e d ia l indica tor."
