Farris led the last heat all the way over Brett Landes, who had to fend off Kevin Atherton, Kevin Vames and Mike Hacker until Vames slipped the groove. He was quickly replaced by Kris Kiser, bu t the top four positions were set with Farris leading Landes, Atherton and Hacker into the main. Da vis sat on the pole for the main, but Farris was first into turn one. Davis p r essed as the lead trio pulled well ahead of a pack made up of Atherton, Da r ling, Evans, Landes, Hacker and Mo rehead . Fa rris he ld a comfortable . lead at the ha lfway point, but Camlin took over second as Davis temporarily lost his rhythm. Atherton gained a little breathing room in fourth as mos t of the position swapping started behind him. Hacker moved up to fifth over Evans and Morehead before Farris crossed the finis h line for the win . The 600cc class had 59 entries divide d in to 10 qualifying heats a nd five elim ina tion heats. Fast qualifier Brent A r mbruster won the first heat with Davis, Coolbeth, Rich King an d price winning the rest. King jumped out front in the main only to have Coolbeth power around on lap four . " We had e ve ry thi ng d ial ed in las t Saturday and when we got the holeshot I thought we were in good shape," said King. "I was trying to protect the inside, an d Kenny just rode around the outsi de going into one." "This is awesome," said Co olb eth. "It's been a struggle all week, but now we're r ead y fo r the Nationals," said Coo1beth. Davis picked up a distant third after Georgie Price d rop ped out. "My bike' s a li ttle sick, and Cra ig Rogers let me ride his son's bike so we could save my number-one ride for the (Dayto na Mu nici pal) sta dium," said Davis. "This one just was a little d own on power."
