Departing fro m recen t tend en cies, the Senior classes were not the largest amateur classes, ins tead, the 500cc and Open, p lus both 250cc classes grew to big nu mbe rs. Still the largest and mo st fierce ly con test class was the 600cc ProAm divisions. Sunday's event featu red the Vintage Bike Magazine-sponsored Vintage Short Tra ck Natio na ls . The Vintage classes alone swelled at 71 entries. Californ ia' s Johnny Mu rphree scored the win on the first d ay over Virginia's John N ickens and Connecticut' s Morgan Coolbe th . O n Mo nday, Murphree was lead ing when he fell and turned the wi n over to Nickens. He was followed across the finish line by Coo lbeth and Pennsylvan ian Richar d Winsett. The new 250 cc Pro-A m cla ss w a s d om in ated by Virginia' s Tim Ead es, as he easily wo n both da ys.
